Leicester City v Derby County

First 5 minutes we were ok. Passed the ball wee, composed and broke up there possession. What happened then for the next 20 minutes was a massacre where Legzdins kept us just about in the game. Could have been 4-5 down and offered nothing going forward. 25-45 minutes we were excellent, i could not for the life of me see how the game and our performance could change so quickly and dramatically. We had 2-3 good chances to level before half time and i was optomistic at half time. First 30 minutes of 2nd half excellent again. When they score the 3rd that was it and you could see it deflated this young team. Keogh was terrible and watching your centre half beaten so easily in the air for 2 headed goals by Knight and Nugent is painful and unacceptable. I have always been concerned since we sold Shackell and brought in Keogh. For me this was a step backwards and the defensive frailties were there for all to see after the 5-5 with Doncaster in the cup. Buxton i thought did well yesterday, won his headers, some great tackles and good distribution. Will Hughes, Brayford and Jacobs caused them some problems on a few occasions. Defensively we need to be tougher and horrible, especially when away from home. Thought Sammon did ok, and Robinson too in patches, however all to often Morgan got in front of Sammon and Robinson showed poor ability to retain the ball when played upto him. This was eveident in the first 20-25 minutes and meant the bloody thing kept coming back on us because they did not fight and look after possession up there. On another note Knockaert, there french idiot was arrested last night in town - Bafoon of the highest class!!

I suppose Peterborough and Millwall are just better teams?

We've been **** away from home for so long now, the excuse of being beaten by better sides doesnt really wash now. We were getting beaten by better sides 4 years ago, and here we are, the same things still happening.

Millwall, yes... Peterborough no.

I understand we are poor away from home, which is why I don't go to many... in all honesty. It's the players on the pitch that aren't performing, sometimes (like yesterday) they're just beaten by a better side...

Was such a strange match - first 25 mins, we literally could have been 4 or 5 down - I thought it was going to end up in a genuine humiliation. Then we shudder into life & are clearly the better side for the next 30/35 mins. Then Leicester wake up & finish us off with the quality you would expect of a team who have spent the money they have.

Thought Hughes was excellent all night - always wanted the ball, showed composure & always vital when you're struggling away from home against a superior opponent, he kept the thing.

Was pleased with Sammon & Jacobs -although Sammon's "finish" shortly after Theo's goal was poor. Also needs to improve his ball retention but I do see what Cloughie sees in him. Also thought Coutts & Ledgzins played well.

Was shocked at how poor Keogh was - clearly an bad day at the office as he's been largely very good this season. O'Connor simply isnt a LB - versatility is all well & good as an emergency but not in preference to specialised LBs on the bench.

Hendrick was the one who confused me the most. He actually looked pretty good during our purple patch of 30 mins - nice interplay with Hughes & movement but looked totally ineffective as Leicester took control. I think he's struggling a little for confidence but also lacks the presence to play the "enforcer" role in that midfield

I honestly think if Bryson had been fit to play & without Keogh's rare shocker, we could have got a result last night. I'm not totally down (although a bit fed up of the recent run to our less illustrious southern neighbours)

15 x 33000 = £495,000

20 x 25000 = £500,000

Our average gate is over 20000

Looks like current pricing would produce more revenue for the club than a blanket £15

If we manage to get 25k in we'd be doing very well as we are averaging not much more than 21. I get the point though, and its an age old argument, but if figures are broadly the same, give me a full stadium with cheaper tickets and greater on day sales of merchandise, program's, food etc, than a third empty one where people are paying more.

would agree generally with most peoples perceptions. should really have been 2 all at one point and then think we should have got something from the game. poor finish by salmon, should have curled it round the keeper to score. jacobs and coutts should have done better with crosses and free kicks. yet again fail to beat the first man. why does this keep happening!!!!!!

overall leicester should win at home with their squad and our poor away record. odds in their favour. agree o connor at cb than lb. he knows he cocked up, perhaps time to give bucko a rest. ob1 and keogh? the latter would also put his hand up and say he was poor. time to try freeman at left back? should bring bryso back in place of hends when fit agen.

we are mid table, wont go up wont go down, so take a long view and plan for next season between jan and may. if we go up nigel will get the sack anyway next season. i'd rather build for longer term stability.

Watching five minutes worth of highlights, you have to feel sorry for Adam Legzdins. He makes six good saves that on another day would probably earn him a clean sheet yet in the end he actually conceded four goals. I know five minutes worth of highlights don't tell the whole story but that alone suggests defensively we couldn't handle Leicester at all.

Looking at each goal, you could credit Leicester for showing the intent but even then collectively we have to be doing better.

For the first goal, Sammon gets completely sucked in by the ball, gets nowhere near it and leaves Whitbread unmarked and you'd have to say why isn't Jacobs at least getting something on the header as he's standing on the post. He sees it late obviously but he doesn't get anywhere near it at all. I think that was a case of us completely switching off.

The second goal, yes O'Connor completely fluffs his clearance and gets clowned by Knockaert but does that ball end up with Waghorn in on goal if Brayford is not hopelessly out of position? At the beginning of the move, he's not even jogging back and probably should have been more alert to the danger.

For the third goal, how does it transpire that Marshall is surrounded by three or four white shirts and dribbles about 10 yards without the slightest challenge? Keogh should head the cross clear, sure. But let's be honest, he shouldn't have to worry about that cross coming in if Marshall had been challenged. Robinson is tracking his man trying to close off the overlap but Hendrick just stands there watching.

And well the fourth goal, I think it just fell kindly for Nugent and he took it very well.

Our defensive frailties aren't all that surprising. There have been times at home where we've rode our luck and got away with things that we didn't on Saturday. You can't read too much into one game. Even the best teams in this division will have off nights. What is alarming is that ours are occurring every other week in recent times.

It's a real shame because it wouldn't take much more for us to be in the mix for promotion. It's just really depressing to get the feeling that we're not even half-way through the season and we're already resigning ourselves to midtable.

I've said it a few times but the defending for 3rd goal was so ameturish it was embarassing..

Marshall isn't a quick player, he's a tidy player with nice ball control but he's not a tricky winger and he doesn't have the pace.. He's a CM or a wide player that isn't designed to beat a man.. It's the equivalent of Hendrick or Bryson picking up the ball 30 yards from goal and getting to the byline without a single challenge put in on him before putting in a cross without the fullback blocking it..

If an opposition is 30 yards from goal you have to pressure him or put a foot in to try and get the ball back.. What Hendrick and Brayford did was literally nothing but jog with him to the byline, it was oefully bad and I hope Clough gave them a rollocking for that..

I don't really see what Lego could have done different.. The 2nd and 4th goals were perfectly placed no goalkeeper in the world would save them.. The 1st and 3rd goals were from crosses, perhaps his reactions were abit slow but I doubt any other NPC goalkeeper would have saved them.. He kept us in it many times, including a pointblank stop when our defending was so bad we allowed Waghorn to volley the ball from 6 yards without any pressure on him..
