Wiggins on his first bike: ‘At 12, I told my art teacher, I’m going to be Olympic champion, I’m going to wear the yellow jersey in the Tour’

And odds on sports personality of 2012! 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

The shortlist of 12 contenders was put together by an expert panel of sports specialists.

The shortlist (in alphabetical order) is:

  • Nicola Adams
  • Ben Ainslie
  • Jessica Ennis
  • Mo Farah
  • Katherine Grainger
  • Sir Chris Hoy
  • Rory McIIroy
  • Andy Murray
  • Ellie Simmonds
  • Sarah Storey
  • David Weir
  • Bradley Wiggins

Any Surprises???

I reckon Sir Chris Hoy, for the simple reasons he's

1. An 11 time World Champion (it might have been 13 if it wasn't for a hip injury)

2. He's been Olympic Champion 6 times, winning 3 at one Olympics

Although, his 7th medal ( a silver) puts him on level par with Wiggins, who both overtake SSR, which in itself is brilliant.

Ooooooh, decisions, decisions..... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I reckon Nicola Adams should win it if personality is indeed the key rather than how much the media wet themselves about a candidate.

She has awesome determination, passion for her sport, and a completely positive outlook. She had a massive grin plastered on for the whole Olympics. Inspirational. And you wouldn't want to spill her pint.

Doubt it'll be Murray he hasn't even bothered to turn up......it's a tough one this year just about all of them deserve it

That will go against him on the night. They could all easily have won in a normal year. He is training to be fair.
