  1. I think it was this one I've just read. Excellent article I thought, basically saying the Israeli government and Hamas leaders are both terrible https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/nov/17/hamas-benjamin-netanyahu-ceasefire
  2. "Yeah Dad, it must be true because @Eddie said it"
  3. Aging person says times were better when they were younger. This is the first instance of this on record.
  4. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/nov/16/antisemitism-uk-universities-jewish-students Pretty sad all round really
  5. And which ever league you are in, you have to be a good team to break down an organised defensive unit, who come for a point, but also tries to nick one on the break. Makes it tougher too when you are a big club, with a large crowd, expecting you to swat away some "little club" with ease whilst playing wonderful football.
  6. We seemed to have a lot of games last season, usually at home, where we scored early, then another, and game was more or less over by halftime. Taking an early chance at home, in front of a big crowd, makes such a difference.
  7. Cameron is foregin sec. He is the hero we all deserve. Withing 2 weeks I want to see pictures of him: Wearing a hard hat whilst overseeing the rebuilding of a Gaza Hospital. Sleaves rolled up. On a JCB helping to demolish the home of a "terrorist" in the West Bank. In full military uniform next to the Ukraine PM in a tank. Pointing his finger angrily at Putin on a Zoom call. From a secret bunker in rural Oxfordshire.
  8. This has Craig Forsyth written all over it. Typical behaviour from the self-proclaimed "nastiest man in football". In other news, strange timing on this revelation, after we finally seem to be making some on-field progress.
  9. It also feels like ex-service people should not really have to rely on a charity to look after them either. I know that could be said of many different charities, but feels like people who have risked their lives for the country should be looked after properly as a given.
  10. He obviously wasn't happy with his quiet life. Couldn't they have at least given it someone fairly popular. Like Beckham, or one of the Strictly presenters?
  11. Royal British Legion helps ex-service people. Not sure how true it is, but you often hear that a large % of homeless people are ex-military. But we now know that homelessness is a lifestyle choice. I hope that the disgusting Royal British Legion don't give any homeless people tents! As a nation, maybe we could be a little less enthusiastic about all these displays of respect and focus on putting the resources and money into actually helping people. Really interesting posts from ex-military people on here too, thanks for your thoughts.
  12. Not been on here all weekend, such sad news. We all knew what a top guy he was in public, but so many beautiful stories of the private messaging he did, especially when people were in times of trouble.
  13. I'm worried about your conspiracy theories if you take that at face value!
  14. 500k hate filled yobs going to protest tomorrow. Hopefully about 50 of them will kick off vs the 50 or so far right morons who also go (who now love Israel), then the media can focus on just that. Or maybe we'll have a week of fawning media coverage of the march, like when only 250k people queued up to see queens coffin.
  15. Alas you are probably correct. Not looking forward to the Starmer and Trump relationship in about a year's time!
  16. If you are on a "hate march" though, that is not good enough. Most the protestors are clearly just daytrippers, wanting some content to share on social and don't care two hoots about 1000s of future terrorists been justifiably obliterated. Some of them don't even realise they are on a march that just celebrates terror attorcities! In other news, most homeless people are actually millionaires. Stop the tents!
  17. The whole protest debate is surely just down to hopeless/reckless political leadership. How difficult is it for a politician to clearly articulate both sides of the coin: "The Hamas attacks that started all this off were barbaric and Israel needs to take steps to prevent this happening again. The Israel response has been barbaric too and the 1000s of deaths are no way to prevent further terror attacks. The UK will be pressurising Israel to stop killing masses of innocent people/children whilst also helping them prevent a repeat of the Hamas attacks. The UK will be pressuring both sides to proceed with the 2 state solution formally agreed by both parties."
  18. His name sounds like a bit part Derby player from early 80s I've never heard of.
  19. Maybe we need a "Live Tragedy" thread for this one.
  20. You should start a youtube channel, this stuff is gold!
  21. Armisitice Month I thought. Our Grandads didn't die vs the Nazis just so a BBC presenter could record a show in the summer without a poppy, knowing full well it would be broadcast in mid-October
  22. Cool, if you could just list a few of the main confirmed conspiracies of the last 25 years or so, that would be great. I don't know much about them, so it would be good to know. Ideally the big ones please, something in the same ballpark as this Israel one please.
  23. I think that paragraph neatly sums up how people get sucked into conspiracy theories. You are believing in something utterly mindblowing and think there is actual evidence that decidedly points to it! You can't mix up beliefs and evidence. Why not start from something far less outlandish. Israeli took their eye off the ball from a security perspective because they were busy dealing with loads of internal strife caused by a useless, populist government. Populists cannot govern, they can only campaign. Simple slogans do not solve complex problems. They also stupidly allowed Hamas to become stronger, possibly to keep moderate Palestinians out of power. These conditions clearly were suitable to allow Hamas to carry out their deadly attacks. The issue now is the disaster unfolding in Gaza. Conspiracy theories are probably designed to make people look elsewhere!
  24. Chelsea are laughable. And the team cost about a billion.
