  1. Unfortunately, not a good start to the DCFC Sky 'trilogy' .....
  2. I agree on the 6 points from 9 being satisfactory. But when you are 2-1 up at home with not so much time left on the clock 9 points from 9 is definitely within your grasp. The fact that the P'boro were more dominant is irrelevant at that stage. It's all about game management, and that's were the game was lost. The comedic defending for their third goal just summed it up really. Regarding Warne's on air profanities, I heard the original broadcast on RD, but actually didn't believe what I'd heard until Gibson apologised. Hardly shocking in todays society, but pretty sure that's a first for Derby County manager.
  3. Maybe an upgrade on Wildsmith would help in a promotion push? His decision making isn't always great, as witnessed in the Oxford game. Also the third Peterborough goal, albeit a comedy of defensive errors, Wildsmith should be doing better than the rather lame attempted save of a soft header. If Vickers is considered worthy of a start, then it's safe to assume that Wildsmith is the best we have at the club. In which case we could most probably do better.
  4. Not so much interested in the hypothetical fee that might be achieved if Bird was sold, but more on how are we going to strengthen the midfield to sustain a promotion bid which, will most likely be via the play offs.
  5. Promotion this season would be ideal, but more importantly I would really like to see the club developing a young team from the academy and also retain the young talent that we already have in the squad. Having watched quite a lot of PL games recently, something that has stood out is the gulf between the teams in the PL and the Ch'ship (more so L1). The athleticism, speed and technical ability of the players is on another planet. And it's not just the top teams, this also applies to struggling teams like Burnley and Luton. For a club like Derby to ever compete, it can only be achieved by developing young talent and improving our recruitment in general, as the club is unable to pay the crazy fees and salaries required to buy success. Our club has amazing support which is our main advantage over many clubs in the Ch'ship and PL. We also have to look at clubs like Bournemouth and Brighton to try and emulate that model for success. Just my thoughts 🙂 COYR for 2024
  6. Yes now that Derby are genuine promotion contenders, keeping Cashin could make the difference. Imagine a line up that included Ward and Bradley and we would need to score 3 goals min to be sure of winning.
  7. Fair point and he's not the only wide player in the game being asked to fulfil defensive duties that he's not cut out for. It's a pity about the two penalties, both for team and the player, who's finally delivery in forward situations is often excellent.
  8. Anything less than 5 points would be very disappointing, but 6 points would be a decent return considering the opposition.
  9. Yes, after all, it's L1 football and more or less all the teams will have flaws technically and tactically. The trick now is to be the least inconsistent team in the top 6.
  10. From the games that I watched, one of the better match officials in the Qatar world cup was the French female referee.
  11. Totally agree with that. However, meeting diversity targets shouldn't take precedence over ability, regarding the promotion of match officials.
  12. It's a game we should be winning, but many said that about the Wycombe match 😕
  13. Yes absolutely, these players are paid professionals and shouldn't need to be micro managed in every thought process and kick of the ball. We were playing a very average Wycombe side, after all.
  14. 1 Wildsmith 6 23 Ward 5.5 35 Nelson 6.5 6 Cashin 6 3 Forsyth 6 4 Hourihane 4 2 Wilson 5 8 Bird 6 17 Sibley 5 11 Méndez-Laing 6 9 Collins 4 19 John-Jules 6 22 Fornah 6 7 Barkhuizen 6 5 Bradley 4
  15. Fair point and although all teams will drop some points, we have been playing catch up due to some underwhelming form earlier in the season.
  16. Definitely one of our younger players with bags of potential, and hopefully set for a good run in the 1st team squad when fully recovered from injury.
  17. Yes all part of 'dumb down Britain' unfortunately. Not exclusive to this forum and very much a reflection of society in general.
  18. In the unlikely event that any buyer would sign up to point No 2, it would be subject to so many caveats, sub clauses and legal loopholes that it would never be water tight contractually or stand up to serious scrutiny. Just my opinion.
  19. Yes, far less risk of expensive failures and/or potential cultural/logistical complications.
  20. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on Collins. I accept that he's a L1 player, who does get involved, and runs around a lot.
