  1. Sorry mate think it’s just how you view things probably based on years of disappointment as a Derby fan which I can understand. Yes we could drop points to Wycombe, Bolton defo could drop points to Pompey and everyone seems to assume Posh will be out of it and rolling over on the last day. As for GD, who is to say we won’t smash bottom of the league Carlisle 5-0 last day of the season? Only thing that is certain right now is we’re a net second on points with 4 games you would expect us to win. We should be confident. 2 wins this week and think the champagne will need to go on ice, dropped points then we’ll still be in the fight to the last day.
  2. Bolton playing Pompey who still have something to play for next weekend, Bolton were honking today by all accounts and very fortunate. I don’t think they’re a particularly happy camp, some of their fans seem to think Evatt has fallen out with players, there’s a soft underbelly there when things don’t go right. There is every conceivable chance they will drop points, if they don’t then fair play. It’s all about us. Bolton fans will be praying we slip up on Wednesday because they’re relying on us to. On paper we have the easiest fixtures left. I’m hoping we get it done by Cambridge but that will largely be down to Bolton, but going into the last game with it in our hands has to be the aim and we have a very good chance to do that. I think we’ll draw with Wycombe, beat Leyton Orient, Bolton draw with Pompey, Bolton beat Shrewsbury, Derby beat Cambridge and Bolton beat Vale, taking it to the last day with us still 1 point ahead at home to Carlisle with Bolton away at Posh. We’ll beat Carlisle and I think Bolton for good measure will drop points at Posh. We’re going to do this!!
  3. Paul Warne on Radio Derby David Clowes on Radio Derby Igor Stimac/Mart Poom/Stefano Eranio/Paulo Wanchope on Radio Derby Graham Richards on Radio Derby Take your pick
  4. I was watching on tv but as @LeedsCityRam said that atmosphere is wasted on 3rd tier. This is a championship game, add Bolton to the mix also! Really like Mousinho from when he was Burton captain. Always spoke well, the obvious choice as PFA leader then he’s taken to management outstandingly. Pompey have got lucky and tonight has confirmed (albeit not mathematically) they’re going up. This is a good point for us and think it could well be decisive!!
  5. Went to that 4-0 at white hart lane. We were 3-0 down after 13 mins, think even Darren Bent managed to score and he was crap at spurs
  6. I’d be very interested to know what their wage budget is for this season and reckon it would be around the figures you’re quoting for top 6. However - £23.6m being 14th highest wage bill and £35.9m being 7th highest is frightening!! When Mel was going mad overpaying our wage bill was £45m so not much more. Just shows we’ve got it all on to compete when we do get back to the championship. Hopefully being leaner with a couple of astute signings, clever use of loan market and a couple of academy players able to make the step up at the right time will give us a chance.
  7. Top end midtable/top 6 I reckon backing I reckon certainly considerably more backing than Warne would get next season in the championship. Their budget will be more than Ipswich, and even the baggies, Cov, Preston the majority of the teams fighting for that 5th and 6th spot. Look at the signings they’ve made. Philogene £5m+, Aaron Connolly who won’t be on cheap wages either, Delap will come with a hefty wage contribution. He’s done a solid job at Hull but no more. FWIW I didn’t agree with letting him go and i liked what he was trying to build, but I also don’t get those (mainly on Twitter) who whenever Hull win point Rosenior effectively saying “this is what we could’ve won” and use it as another stick to beat Warne with. There are no guarantees we’d have fared any better under Liam, I actually don’t think we would’ve fared any better.
  8. True on both counts. They started doing it briefly with Chris Martin didn’t they playing Coldplay when he scored, though it quickly changed into some weird dance version of Paradise.
  9. Potentially they look like they’ve blown playoffs despite being very heavily backed by their owners. Was thinking exactly the same about Blackpool.
  10. No issue with the goal music but pre match really needs sorting out, doesn’t build any atmosphere at all. They’ve started playing hey jude after wins which although loads of clubs do it really works well, need get some sort of anthem pre match.
  11. What a win!! What an atmosphere- not Bolton but still good. I was buzzing post game and still am today with the win and the results going in our favour. Must say yesterday a few beers in i thought it was decisive and we’re definitely going up. On reflection there is still some potential squeaky bum time yet. Bolton could be 3 points behind by the time we play Pompey. A loss to Pompey then Bolton have the opportunity to draw level with us if they beat Bristol before we play again. That would really put the pressure on. But I’m convinced we’ll get over the line. Last 2 home performances are evidence we’re shithousing our way to the finish line and I don’t care at all. At this stage it’s all about getting results however you get them, and I think Warne has tactically got the better of Evatt and Critchley in the last 2 home games. For all Blackpool’s play they didn’t look like scoring and we nullified their threats. I have no issue with us playing like this at this stage of the season especially with our injuries, challenge will be if we’re midtable in the championship playing like this every week then pressure would rightfully mount on Warne if not next season then definitely the season after. Right now though let’s just enjoy the results and being in a promotion race!!
  12. True it’s not much to ask but this lot ain’t hearing you and it ain’t happening so strap yourself in and brace yourself. Our run in really should come with a health warning. In fact they should warn you as a kid when signing up for the junior rams or whatever that “Supporting Derby County seriously damages your health”
  13. For balance, the only good spell we had in the game was the 15 minutes right up until their goal when we could’ve scored 3, that was the only time we were moving the ball quickly and we looked a threat, Hourihane was the stand out player in this period of the game orchestrating it. He was poor second half but there were also players just as bad.
  14. We head into the last round of fixtures, Pompey already champions and having a party at Lincoln who get the win they need to make the playoffs. We’re 2nd on 88pts, posh and Bolton on 87pts, we have a superior goal difference. Half time and we’re 0-1 down following a really nervy performance, fans in full voice trying to urge the team on but becoming nervous and agitated with the performance. But news comes through from London Road that it’s 1-1 and despite being behind we’re still going up. Into the second half and the fans find their voice again the team up their performance levels but the keeper is having a blinder, we equalise on 65 minutes, it’s still 1-1 at London Road. Time ticks onto 85 mins we’ve missed countless chances as Carlisle are hanging on trying to salvage something from a difficult season but then groans around the stadium, Bolton have scored and lead Posh 2-1, Bolton are going up. In the same moment a misplaced pass from Hourihane puts a Carlisle striker through on goal it’s curtains for our auto chances he rounds Wildsmith and shoots it’s going but who else but Cash gets there on the line to keep it out, the crowd roars again, we’re due a chunk of stoppage time due to Carlisle’s time wasting tactics, the board goes up, it’s 8 mins, the crowd roars again. It’s finished at London Road, Bolton have won. They think they’re up but they’re nervously waiting for our game to finish. 95 mins. We’ve thrown everything at Carlisle but the ball just won’t go in. We get a throw on the right hand side, Nelson for once goes short to Bird, he cuts inside plays the ball to the edge of the box Hourihane let’s the ball come across him evading the Carlisle player onto his left foot and with perfect technique he drills it into the bottom corner from 20 yards!!! Pandefuckingmonium ensues!! We’re up and the much maligned Hourihane has bookended his Derby career by scoring the first goal of the new era post administration and the goal to take us back to the Championship.
  15. Didn’t we have 3 clean sheets out of the last 4 before yesterday? Our best period of the game in the first half Hourihane was orchestrating it. Not really sure what other midfield he could’ve picked with the injury situation. The injury situation definitely isn’t helping - it’s horrific. Everyone bangs on about not blooding youngsters. Maybe as bucko said they’ve not taken the opportunity. I’ve seen people think Cybulski should’ve been given a run - he’s now playing non-league. You can also play youngsters too early e.g Whittaker. We weren’t on it yesterday but still could’ve won on chances. We move on and hope for performances like against Vale Bristol and Reading where we were excellent and played nice football in those games
  16. Obviously the worst case scenario is we lose every game but don’t think that’s going to happen, so realistic worst case is we take 10 points from remaining 6 games, draw and defeat next weekend, defeat to the Wycombe scumbags (god I would love some pay back there), then win the last 3. That gives us 88 which with our GD means 89 will be needed. This means Bolton need 15 from their last 7 (which includes Stevenage A Pompey H Posh A) and Posh need 18 from their last 8 (which includes Orient A Oxford A Bolton H), all teams are also playing teams in heat of relegation battle which will make it difficult. I personally think anything over 89 points will start to make things difficult for others especially if we maintain our GD advantage. Its going to go to the last game whereas if we’d won yesterday think we’d have had the chance to seal the deal early!! We’ll know a lot more next weekend but still nothing will be decided. Lots more twists and turns ahead.
  17. What about the huge gigantic positive we’re a net 2nd whatever happens with games in hand with 6 games left!!! That’s an excellent position to be in, let’s face it had we won today some fans would literally be popping the champagne corks thinking it’s done. Today is hugely frustrating but nothing more given the position we were in before the game, it’s in our hands. Injuries are a blow and hope NML isn’t too bad but positives, CBT looked good, Collo is soon to be back, and injury/suspension means he probably has to play a back 4 now for the final few games.
  18. Here we go, the world has caved in for some after today’s defeat, just as it did after back to back defeats and awful performances to Barnsley and Charlton just a few weeks ago. How did we respond? By winning 4 in a row, including our 3 best performances of the season back to back before Bolton. We’re still in a fantastic position, it’s in our hands with 6 games to go and we have enough winnable games to get over the line. We were never going to win all these games points were always going to be dropped and will be dropped by other teams. Frustrating as it’s an opportunity missed just like Barnsley and Charlton were but that would’ve been a ridiculous run of wins at this stage in the season. That said other than 15 minutes in the first half before they scored when we couldve scored 3 we were poor today, one of those days where you need to take your chances and hopefully sneak a win. We barely conceded a chance and the ref played a huge part in their goal so while we didn’t play well I certainly don’t think we deserved to lose. Massive weekend ahead as it was always going to be. 4 points would be good and set us up well for the final 4 games. Think todays result means we need to beat Wycombe away now which will be tricky but it’s ours to lose. Hope we can get enough forward players fit to get us over the line, although thought CBT was a bright spark today and this could be his time. We need him. COYR!! 🐏🐏🐏🐏
  19. We were good for the 15 mins just before they scored, all our chances came in that period and Hourihane was orchestrating most of it, they get the goal from nothing with a huge helping hand from the ref, since then they’ve turned it into a scrap. When we move the ball quickly we look good need to get back to that period from 10-25 when we carved them open.
  20. Not sure how we’re losing. 3 guilt edged chances, Bradley should’ve done better good finish by Hoskins who is a class act at this level, but the ref had a huge part in that goal should’ve been a free kick for foul on wilson when we were on the attack. Ebou Adams has been a liability so far today, missed a sitter really careless on the ball a few times in dangerous areas putting us under pressure. Need to get back to how we were the 10 minutes leading up to their goal.
  21. Apart from the clubs with parachute payments - well surprise surprise!!! This is precisely why we need the regulator to put these greedy self interested premier league/parachute payment clubs back in their box and stop them creating a closed shop for 23 clubs at the top of the pyramid which is what’s happening. The English Super League!!
  22. Missed that one and makes a lot more sense!!! Glad he pulled them off then!! 🍺
  23. Well I really enjoyed yesterday. Haven’t seen pride park like that in years. What an atmosphere!! Even the west stand were noisy 😉. Loved how Warne laid down the gauntlet to the fans post match saying just like the players the fans can’t drop their standards now after that!! The performance wasn’t vintage and we’ve played much better recently, but credit must go to Bolton who look a decent outfit. I don’t think they battered us, think the first half was pretty even although overall they edged it, second half we were second best until we scored although they didn’t create loads, a couple of routine saves for Wildsmith and one excellent save (after his worldie save in the first half). Think a defeat was definitely harsh on Bolton. However the concern I would have as a Bolton fan is when we scored they never looked like they were going to equalise. Yes we had to defend at times but we closed the game out relatively comfortably. I don’t think Bolton react well to things going against them and I question if they have the minerals. We can question Warne tactically (think the three subs at halftime were slightly unnecessary and we couldn’t get going, agreed with Thommo coming on for Conor but thought Ward and Barks should’ve stayed on although Kane did get the winner arriving where ward wouldn’t have done) but we won that yesterday primarily because of the band of brothers mentality this team, the heart spirit and togetherness created by the amazing dressing room environment Warne has created, and I think it’s this that will ultimately get us through and over the line 🤞
