I went to watch Pafos FC last night, they've got some decent players:
Jairo - Brazilian striker
Moustapha Name - Cameroonian midfielder
One player who stood out though was Onni Valakari (son of Simo) - an attacking midfielder and Finnish international.
I appreciate the levels of the league are different but I doubt they are that far apart these days.
Anyway I'm not suggesting we sign these players but I was wondering if anyone else had watched some summer football abroad and been impressed by a relatively unknown player?

If we're playing 2 up top, I'd go with CKR and TL.
-
Cocu is a much better manager and coach than Rooney - its as simple as that
Unfortunately we've got Rooney who's not very good and his job as manager is completely hindered by the financial mess the club has got itself into, ironically which he is a part of
It seems that it's going to be a long slow death, without much to cheer about along the way
-
Absolute rubbish
Rooney keeps saying we're playing his way this season, well so far it's no different to the garbage we served up last season.
Too defensive, but not great at it. No flair or threat.
It looks like we're playing for a 0-0 against a team that have conceded 7 in two games.
If this is the best we can do then we're in more trouble than I thought

I'm going ?

He's better than Joswiak can't believe there's no place for him
-
Is that even legal under employment law?
Seems unlikely to me

All we need now is Andy Carroll
-
I wasn't meaning to knock Bird with my post. I believe he's also a good player.
-
Tom Carroll is a quality central midfielder. With all the chat on here about Bird not being good enough I'd have thought most people would be more than happy with this potential addition?
I think he'd be a great addition, it's also positive that players of his quality are interested in joining.

Can't see him doing anything above and beyond Sibley, invest in the future Derby
-
Just thinking about Jack Marriott this morning, is it possible to recall him and play him in this match?

Pointless exercise trying to predict Rooney’s teams because we know Lawrence is undroppable.
Buchanan is a risk but Forsyth has looked so poor of late.
Knight and Shinnie have to anchor because we have to play four attacking players.
We have to find the best ways of getting the ball on the floor and into the opposition penalty area.
Lawrence has given goals away recently and gets his feet tangled up when he needs to be precise.
Rooney may pick my team but with Lawrence instead of Sibley.
I just can’t see the winners in our squad whereas with Wednesday you have Bannan, Reach and Paterson, all of whom would walk into our side.
I'd swap Lawrence for Roberts but keep the rest

Not aimed directly at yourself but in general. What would people need the club to do to be 'whelmed'?
Spend 10mill on a striker from the domestic leagues? Can't think of a single one I'd be overly excited about us signing from our league or otherwise.
Loan a young striker from a prem team? Not too many about, we've been linked to some, again unproven and we don't gain anything from it after the season ends.
Spend big on a European striker? Massive risk to do, could backfire like Forest.
A 6ft3' striker at the prime of his career who is scoring a good amount of goals and available under 2 mill? I'm not sure more the club could do, this seems exactly the kind of signing we should make.
I'm not sure 28 going on 29 constitutes the prime of your career.
I think I'm many ways you're right though. With an average budget we probably can't expect much better than a striker like this.
Sometimes its better not to have the highest expectations as it only leads to disappointment.

Awww. Had you set your heart on Harry Kane or Danny Ings?
Hmmm, I suppose his goal tally last season, along with his videos of tricks and flicks make him an exciting prospect.
However people jumped all over other linked strikers due to their stats. All I'm suggesting with my lack of overexcitement is that this player, is probably a fairly average striker who had 1 really good season.

I'm underwhelmed.

If they do we could do a lot worse than looking at bringing Morgan Whittaker back to the club.
