Just after HT I was worried as May dropped deeper with the new striker who came on going up top I thought it was having an effect but for some reason it faded out and May was playing an odd midfield position like a free role I guess ….we rode that and then I didn’t think they troubled us much
They do have some decent players and with a new manager I think they’re capable of nicking points off of anyone

Was late getting home, so was well into second half before catching up on here.  This and the beeb match updates.
    Seen nothing.  Heard nothing.
    From the comments on here:
It seems to have been an ugly win.  I'll not complain about that.
Max played to the max, it seems... and I'll happily add a slice of humble pie to my supper later, on that topic.  Well done, and thanks, Max!  🐏
I'd much rather have the points in the bag, than rely on the ifs, buts and maybes that adhere themselves to games in hand.  Let others do the hoping and praying on that score.  We're now the team they have to catch, and that makes a nice welcome change.
I hope those 3 magnificent points keeps @jono moist for the entirety of his birthday evening.

    EDIT:
Just seen the vid of the goal... I'll take two slices, Max.  Beautiful through ball that!  👍

    Second though... eh?  🐏🍻

I don't think it's too soon to declare Ebou Adams as the best midfielder in the country who will single handedly ensure our promotion.

OMG, it was amazing @Caerphilly Ram asked whether meat and potatoes are the essence of a top pie. I hilariously called him a psychopath. How we laughed! Up stepped @Carnero who then called him a sick bar steward, which on reflection, was more inventive than my effort. The two of them had a duel outside Pride park and suffice to say, spuds are off the menu. High drama.

Well Charlton got their pound of flesh, but We got the points! COME ON YOU RAMS!
it took us a while to get into the match, and we weren't at our best anyway, but were well worth the win. Virtually all that
Charlton managed were half-chances all match, with great defensive work and loads of blocks. And we were pretty solid mot of the way through. It was really hard work, and there were some good performances from players we had come to expect to let us down - Sonny Bradley in particular. And we won on yellow cards. Come on FA - get your act together. You can't let this level of officiating carry on. It is embarrassing. I'll say no more on that or I'll be starting a new thread just on todays referee!
So we've made good ground on most of those around us, and re sitting pretty well! What puzzles me is that Charlton gave us a good run around, especially in the second half and can actually play a bit. So why on earth do they compromise their performances by concentrating on the nasty side of football. There was a whole stack of cynical challenges and really dirty fouls, plus an assortment of dives in all areas of the pitch. What if they focussed on football? Just what could they achieve? But it meant despite pressing us well at times, they didn't really threaten our goal, so thanks for that!
So a week's rest, then Shrewsbury at ours. Can't wait! What a turnaround!

He was clipped on the ankle/boot by a Charlton player and had a cut (boot off and sock soaked with blood), came back on after treatment and scored, then hobbled for a few mins after so was taken off.
I think it’s the right decision as we don’t want him making that injury worse or picking up a muscle injury from running awkwardly or something.

TFL go app has a couple of routes that should take about an hour. The one you mentioned or Green Park to Bond Street on the Jubilee line, then Elizabeth line to Woolwich station and hop on the 177 bus.
    Good luck!

Tough game ahead I think. Hopeful of a good result, more than confident after the recent dip in performance and energy levels. With Charlton having recruited heavily during this window and playing in their own back yard, I doubt they'll be a pushover.
Ryan Nyambe returns and not before time. I hope he's fit as it was suggested he may have had a niggle. I'm hoping those reports prove untrue. I'm hoping to see CBT start and put in a strong performance. He looks a good signing and a player who could develop further yet, but will he be given time if he doesn't land running?
Also really interested to see how we set up today. Very divided forum these days, but I think most agree that we needed to bolster midfield and in Ebou Adams we seem to have a man tailor made for the job. Will he start? If so, will he screen the back 4 or be the legs slightly higher up the field?
Perhaps the most contentious question, will Max be trusted by the gaffer to put a performance in? I'd assume yes, otherwise why the loan back, but the deluge of criticism may have changed that landscape with a few fans openly threatening to give Max a bit of grief. It's a shame as a midfield 3 of Max, Thommo and Ebou might prove pretty tasty.
And will a weary looking Hourihane be rested, or will PW stick to his guns? So many questions and a lot of moving parts. Who'd be an owner / manager?

please three in midfield paul we have so many good options,
then the 10 and front three can wreak havoc
whilst I am disappointed about the striker situation Nyambe and elder back, new midfield (🤞) and Waggy/Wash coming back things could look and feel better

Right, come on guys, January is over, there's a match on tomorrow. Time to put our differences behind us and get fully behind the team. The old players, the new ones, the one soon to leave us, let's help them get over the line. Still all to play for. COYR!

There has been somewhat of an over-reaction to us not signing a striker, but there are good grounds for the frustration. Firstly, our manager admitted that he held back from January transfers last season and it cost us, as did his lack of rotating the squad to avoid burnout. So what has changed? Well we have signed a midfield muscleman, which we needed, and it will strengthen our midfield, assuming Paul Warn actually plays the three in midfield which we need to. Otherwise midfield will remain open-season to the opposition. And we have signed a good winger. But the lack of squad rotation has resulted in us sending a striker out on loan. The word is that DJB is not considered ready for "men's football". A number of people have complained that he should have been given opportunity with the "who's bothered" cup matches, but apart from 45 minutes out of position (where have we seen that before?), Dajun didn't get a look in. I am of the mind that his 45 run-out was for a purpose - he should have been played off Collins, not alongside him, effectively in his shadow. Whatever, it rendered Brown ineffective, proving that Warne was right, Brown isn't ready for the step up. The lad hasn't featured since. There are other U-21s who have had the door slammed in their faces as well, again with a number of people saying that they weren't ready. However, when admin came to town we were forced to used a whole load of the kids, and the truth is a number of them stepped up to the plate magnificently. If ever there was a time when the kids wouldn't be ready, it was when they had to face the trauma of what was happening on top of their step up to the first team. And there are loads of other clubs who do give chances to their youngsters, yet somehow we only seem to have little boys who freeze in front of the bright lights. Really?
Secondly there is the absolute gaffe of letting Brown go out on loan when we were staring a striker shortage in the face. Warne says that we have been badly let down  late on by selling clubs over strikers we had lined up, but it isn't the first time, and it won't be the last. Why not hold on to Brown until a new striker had come in? It's not rocket science!
But this isn't the first, nor is it the second time we have faced an underwhelming transfer window. In reality this type of fiasco is actually normal, as though it is part of the Derby way. So the moaning isn't "So where is the striker?", it is more of a case of "Oh no, not again!" It has gone on for years and years. The only improvement is that we haven't had key players going out for the equivalent of a packet of Haribos, a mouse's tail and a used condom, which has also been "the Derby Way" in past times.
But that was yesterday! It's today now, so let's look forwards! I hope that the addition of Adams will move us to a 3-man midfield which will strengthen our matchplay, and mean we can have a greater effect in the final third, and which may just create the room for our new potent winger to do his thing!
