I think the best football we played was someone at home in the funny trophy thing.
-
What was the attendance tonight?
-
As others have said… performances have caught up with us. I think PW has tried to get the second goal by putting on more attacking players. However, that seems to be the full sum of how we tactically attack. By just having more attacking players on 🤷🏽♂️

Their equaliser was a good strike though I thought the initial control by the player was poor. The ball was running away from him but none of our lads closed him down. Should have been a 50/50 ball after his lack of control
-
Warne post match interview was pretty honest. He explains what he saw and where we were poor and how the players gave their all etc. I’d just like to get his view on why we struggle to put more than 3/4 passes together and why we lose possession so quickly.
-
Abroad so was only able to watch the second half with no sound on. The game looked frantic with frequent turnovers of possession and some awful passing straight out of play. We looked to get into a few good positions but the final delivery was lacking (Wilson never picked a player out as far as I can remember and generally took an age to get a cross in).
Last 10 mins we seemed to have more possession. Could have been that Barnsley stopped pressing and decided to defend their lead. However, what was disappointing was that we still kept on trying to play the same way. Long diagonals, or out to the wing as quick as possible to cross it. I would have liked us to try and go through the middle more and hope to slip a pass into Gayle. But unfortunately, we remained v predictable, an accusation that has been levelled for most of the season.
Other results went our way so I just hope the players manage to put this one behind them.

Second game this season that I wasn’t at or watched on RamsTV. In Tasmania, checked the score at 3:30am (I think). Match seemed to have nearly finished scoreless. Woke up to a win. Excellent.

What's even more bizarre than you constructing a timeline of our oppositions "chances" is that someone else on the forum has actually applauded your efforts.
It’s obvious (as you know) that the poster was disagreeing that Exeter created the square root of nothing. But easy laughs I guess 🙄

As long as you don’t ignore the fact we are second in the league and that you wouldn’t be here today if we had won despite a below par performance. Furthermore I don’t buy into the over simplistic notion that a manager is always to blame for a poor performance.
Agree that a manager isn’t always to blame for a poor performance but even Warne admitted himself that he’s got it wrong first half in his opinion. I assume he thinks we would have played better if he had got it right…
I enjoy our wins but I would still come on here to say if I thought we were poor if I felt we were.

Oh great, we’ve drawn a game and up they pop. I just can’t understand why Pompey and Bolton don’t just role over and let us take our birth right. It’s so tiresome these other teams playing us and trying to get a point or god forbid even beat us. How dare they field a team of ultra fit highly coached professionals against us every game! Bar stewards.
The point isn’t about Shrewsbury playing to a professional level and trying to get a point or “god forbid even beat us”. It’s our feeble game from tactics to an utter shambles trying to pass and move consistently. Of course other teams are expected to compete. Don’t use that as defence for our rubbish performance

Another game ticked off

I thought many people had decided that we do have an identity - play it out wide, avoiding the midfield, as soon as you can and get crosses in? (I’m only half joking).
Unfortunately, we’re not even doing that with any quality or consistency
-
NML losing possession easily again that led to their thrown in and to the goal. He’s done that a few times. Can’t shield the ball
-
End of the day, we’re second and looking to put a performance in. We didn’t. We scored from a set piece and other than the header at the end, Shrewsbury looked more dangerous. We either let them on to us or just weren’t capable of putting them under pressure and getting the second.
-
We should have been doing this at 1-0!!
-
Awful game management. Not for the first time
-
Come on boys, let’s create another chance at least
-
This is where we need composure and to keep the ball. Turnover is too quick
-
Awful game so far

To improve as a team we need to keep cooler under pressure and stop just clearing up field. It only gives away possession and the next wave starts. That's my view of how to stop the 20min onslaught.
I felt there was definitely a sense of desperation on clearing the ball at times or flicking it on etc when the player had time to bring the ball down and look up.

We cant. And they didnt score in that spell - we saw them off. I am sorry but I dont really get what you are asking. Other teams will always up their games at points during a game and look more of a threat. We need to keep strong in those moments and we did. Unless you expect every other team to just give us promotion?
No expectation of teams giving us promotion at all. I’m asking if they just put more effort in or did they change tactically that gave us problems. That’s all. No agenda, just curious why we really struggled to keep any sort of possession for 20 mins. If it was “just their spell”, that’s fine

We did sort it out, they didn't score and didn't dominate after the 20 minutes.
That’s a view. Not sure what we did differently that’s all. Maybe they went for it in that spell and “gassed out” 🤷🏽♂️
-
Any views on how we were so overrun for that 20 min spell after halftime? (They really should have equalised with one chance in particular but otherwise the defence stood up but we couldn’t keep possession). How could we sort that?

Also thought Nelson was a rock today. Some proper blocks on the edge of the area. A big cheer when we actually worked the ball from left to right through the midfield. Think it was Hourihane who passed to Bird and then MOVED for the return and on to Thompson..
Great day out and you could see the passion and determination from the lads from behind the goal. No surprise that Warne was so pleased 💪
