Partly but U16 fixtures have been allowed for a while now and they still don’t seem to be having many. Not sure if it is because of a shortage of coaches.

Yes, I forgot the U23s were playing and that kind of explains Conor Dixon being a surprise on the first-team bench. Left the U23s stretched between fulfilling this fixture and filling out the first-team bench. Given that this was away in Brighton and the U18s were away in Blackburn the following day there wasn’t really an option to involve more U18s and, as it was, the U18s had to use Trialists and U15s to fill out their squad.
Cashin was captain and the U23s were a player short on their bench with Sykes-Kenworthy our other sub.
From the highlights on the official site, with a Brighton commentator, it sounds like Derby U23s started brightly. At one point the commentator says Brighton can’t get out of their own half, but an own goal, and then a soft goal, and it was an uphill task after that.

He’s been signed as a scholar and given a 1 year pro apparently. Some of the 2nd year scholars have been released now so the 16s will be getting more chance with the 18s.

This is the list of 2nd year scholars: Bardell, Solomon, Jinkinson, Grewal-Pollard, Aghatise, Rogers, Matthews, Perez de Gracia, SThompson, Cybulski
I'm sure you'd be able to choose 3 or 4 to put in the 'at risk' group.

The only one that I know for certain is Jinkinson. There were a couple of others that weren’t in the 18 squad against Leeds that don’t usually play in the 23s so I would think they have gone aswell unless injured.

Jinkinson probably falls victim of us choosing to keep Wassall, Bateman, Minkley, JBrown, Cashin and Solomon for the U23s. Personally, I don't think he has as much potential as any of those listed.
De Gracia, SThompson and possibly Matthews would be the other 3 I'd put in the at risk group. However, all 3 have struggled with injuries and we have a habit of giving youngsters extra chances to come back. Neither have made an impression at U18 level so could be a big ask for them to step up another level despite not playing for such a long time.

Jordan Brown is very much a utility player as he can play central midfield, defensive midfield, centre-back, and both full-back roles. In recent weeks, he’s been playing centre-back for the U23s and captaining them as well.

Max Bardell was the regular U18 captain until he recently moved up to the U23s. I’ve just checked some recent U18 team lineups I bookmarked on Twitter from the Derby County Academy and they don’t usually specify who is captain, although I think Hugo Jinkinson may have taken over from Bardell.

I don't know if he got any game time, but Reece Nicholas-Davies confirmed he was involved earlier today. He is an under 16 player.
