  1. I have to say that whilst it’s really entertaining as a fan, it must be mentally brutal on players who don’t get picked.

I can’t imagine what it must feel like to be projected as a pick in the top three rounds, such as Wilson or Moses, only to end up being undrafted.

I’d imagine Fields, who was generally built up as the second best QB a couple of months ago and probably wouldn’t get past the top 5, but dropped to 11th, will end up with a chip on his shoulder as a result.

Listening to Jalen Mayfield for the Falcons going on about how pissed off he was at dropping to 68, as he was better than people being picked above him, didn’t come across well...

  2. Looks promising that Falcons should be able to come away with a “first round quality” defensive player tonight.

Any of Owusu-Koramoah, Moehrig, Ossai, Ojulari or Barmore and we’re good.

So it’s going to be a RB...

Hmm. Well my Bengals have signed Ricardo Allen at safety from the Falcons. Signing from the 31st ranked defense hardly screams ambition but I am sure Allen has a few redeeming stats......

Rico Allen is not the greatest athlete, he’s steady.  His biggest positive is that he’s a reader of the game and an “onfield coach”.

He’s a bit like Steve Cross for Derby!! ?

  4. Surely there’s half of the teams who suffer a loss of home field advantage too.  Those teams who have a fortress could well see their additional game bring them a playoff berth...

I'd love a splashy play like taking Pitts or Chase but as I understand it, it's pretty impossible for us to move on from Julio this year due to the dead cap that he carries so to take one of them would be a complete luxury with Julio & Ridley already on the roster. Do you watch The Falcoholic youtube videos? There is a pretty good explanation on there as to why moving on from Ryan & Julio this year was nigh on impossible.

I guess it all depends on how highly they view the QB's that are on the board at 4 doesn't it, if they REALLY like Justin Fields/Trey Lance then they have to take him as it's unlikely we'll get such a high draft pick again in the near future.

I think it'll probably be a trade down with Denver at 9... if Fields or Lance is still there at 9 then great! Though the restructure suggests to me that we now plan on running Ryan's contract out for the next 3 years.

Defense is our most pressing need though isn't it!!!

Defense?  You mean we need a Defense? ?

Might need a bit of depth here and there! (The secondary is bare, beyond Terrell)

I was thinking that later in the season, if we’re going nowhere, someone might take a punt on Jones, and we might as well bite the bullet and take the cap hit.

With Ridley, he’s going to want a bumper pay day, and the question is whether we trade now and build for the future.

I was hoping that we wouldn’t extend Jones and Ryan, not because I don’t rate them, but they eat so much of the cap, that we can’t be competitive everywhere. However, appreciate the restructure is inevitable...

Ryan still has a good 3-4 years left at a decent level so I understand the move (being the easiest way to get under the cap). It does make it less likely that we'll take a QB with the 4th pick now though so I guess it'll just be a trade down ?.

At this point, all options remain in the table, but I agree that QB isn’t the most pressing need.  However, would they potentially still take Lance, as a quality development project?

Could potentially draft a playmaker like Pitts or Chase, so we can move on from Hurst and Jones/Ridley and spend the cash elsewhere and maybe get some picks for next year...

  7. I think it’s fair to say the Buccaneers are going to win the NFC South, as the Saints are having to massively restructure, the Falcons too (we’re nearly £20m over the cap and are 20 players short of a full roster!) and the Panthers are just rubbish!
