Thought I'd bump this thread as today see's this year's race due off at the really weird time of 1.30 today - WTF is that about? Put the race back to where it should be please! 4.00PM ish has worked fine since 1780, after all!

Not the biggest fan of standard flat racing, to be honest, but I do follow the pattern races pretty closely and obviously, the biggest of those for 3 year old colts (and fillies, though very rarely) is the Derby. It looks a very open affair this year and I'll not be getting heavily involved today as I backed Military Order the morning of the Lingfield Derby Trial, thinking his price would collapse if he won it. He did and it has, though I can't say I'm wildly confident. That said, if he runs in the first 4, I'll be making a modest profit and if he emulates his full brother Adayar, I'll be doing rather better. Fingers crossed!

As for the field, I suspect the 'Frankie factor' will see Arrest emerge as the favourite, but the one I may play to small stakes as an interesting EW bet is San Antonio at a whopping 33/1, with most firms paying out on 4 places (@1/5th of the odds). He's a bit to find on form with the principals, but he has a proper Derby pedigree and I can see him outrunning those odds. I'm probably wrong, but I fancy him as much as the supposed O'Brien first string, August Rodin. The latter arguably has the strongest piece of form in the book, but at 4/1 he does not look like value, so he can win without the burden of my cash on his back.

Pop up your own fancies here if you like and enjoy bragging rights later if your selection does the business. Remember folks, small stakes to keep it fun if you are not a form buff.

    Good luck peeps!

Did you forget it is the FA Cup final today at 3.00 pm,so the reason for moving the Derby start time is to accomodate that.

I'm sure they can watch TV, read websites and newspapers but would it be the same as being there?

I agree with you that there is no atmosphere watching on TV,but he still gets to see the match.

I just hope the racist moron that abused Darren Moore after the first leg was banned and missed both the dramatic second leg and the final.

Dont you think that morons havent the intelligence to watch a football match on television

This I was unaware of, I saw the headlines when he "came out" and left it at that, It never surprises me when people make a rod for their own backs, The only surprise is...we all fall for it...and of course...have an opinion😉

Schofield makes a rod for other unthinkable things

I may sound old fashion but the hypocrisy of the Royal Family King Charles great uncle at to  abdicate the throne to love a divorced woman Wallis Simpson, why should the rules change to suit Charles? That and the way Charles carried on an affair with Camilla whilst he was married to Princess Diana. I'm not a Harry fan but I can understand his dislike for Camilla. Sorry just my opinion.

Totally agree Ziggy, there are a lot of unknowns with the royal family,Dianas death has never been properly explained

    Take a bow son

Mark Selby looked so happy after his maximum break,it is going to be one hell of a final today.I think Selby has the guile and experience to beat Brecel who is playing in his first crucible final

I'm guessing something to do with oil.

I think it could be to do with fracking.

There is a ongoing dispute in a village in Lincolnshire re the traffic being caused through the village,up to 100 vehicles a day, where there are "nodding donkeys being used to extract oil",but after watching look north last night it would seem that dispute was overturned by the goverment.

But we need oil  more than ever now after the russian/ukraine conflict.

  8. Latest snooker ,the World cup finals, interupted last night by two loonies, one jumped on the table and emptied a bag of orange powder on the table, creating havoc, the other,a woman 35 years old jumped on the table and tried to glue herself to the table.

Similar to the protesters who tried to stop the Grand National on Saturday, these 2 had t shirts with a motive of Stop Oil,what are they protesting about.

Think that there is going to have to be a lot more security at sporting events, they have already tried to interupt football matches by gluing themselves to the goal posts before. What is happening to Sunaks threat that he will crack down on these dissidents, they should have prison sentences and have all there benefits stopped if the cant abide with uk laws

  9. The Peterborough keeper went down, rolling around as if in pain, after a couple or so minuites he was attended to by one of peterboroughs staff, who must have rubbed his leg with magic potion, because after a couple of minuites he was running around as if nothing had happened, just a ploy to waste time, goal kicks, throw ins, free kicks all had many minuites added.

What is the answer, perhaps a second referee on the touch line watching time wasters, who is in contact with the ref and if it is seen, then yellow card them as happened in the England/Italy match to an English player, there was a good honest ref who wasnt going to allow time wasting.

I feel like I am the perfect person to create this topic.

And let me stop you right there, when I say members I'm talking about all of you, not what's between your legs.

Please do not share anything too graphic, Google is watching.

Anyhow, in the latest instalment of my life and so B4 doesn't feel on his own, I will now show you a picture of my toes.

Usually you have to pay for this kind of content online, but this one is free of charge.

This my left foot, the same side I recently broke my ankle which is still swollen and taking an insane time to heal.

Walking down the stairs, as we all do everyday of our lives, unless you live in a downstairs flat or bungalow, my left foot slips on the edge of the step, smashing into the wooden post things toes first.

I have bruising on the other side as well which I'm not willing to share without having a pedicure first.

My diagnosis is either just bruised or broken, not much point in bothering the hospital, I have numerous boots and braces round the house from previous trips to A&E.

Back to walking like I've crapped my pants again I guess, you don't really appreciate what your toes do until you can't use them.

    I feel your pain @B4ev6is

You need to get a machine called a revitalise, advertised by Ian Botham, designed to increase blood flow in the lower legs, ankles and lower feet, and it looks like your toes need some help to increase blood flow, hope you get better soon.

I liked the fact that the ref only added 4 minutes. It suggested to me that all the time he would have added on for time wasting he discarded when we took the lead.

But the ref played 8 minuites and 12 seconds added on time,if you were talking the Sheffield United game

If they wanted a better standard of living they would surely stay in Germany or France.

I would that suggesting only 'some people' know and care could be perceived as being a little patronising itself.

    Anyway, back on topic...

Hardly any tomatoes in Morrisons today

No shortage of tomatoes yesterday in our local Mercadona, and no rationing either.

As for that Begum women leave her where she is,let her rot in hell.
