  1. Bolton lose, Peterborough lose, Barnsley draw. Derby win!!
  2. It is of course totally the fault of Ed Dawes that we have lost the last two games. But, I also wore a new jumper. So, as much as I hate to say, it may well be my fault rather than Ed’s… sorry everyone 😝
  3. So “headers on target” aren’t counted as “shots on target”?? Interesting. Do HoT contribute to xG??
  4. You should go back to bed. In fact I advise you to sleep until June 🙂
  5. I strive to be positive but wow, that second half was absolutely terrible. There has been some dross served up this season, but that was just appalling. Against a team who needed a replay to beat Cray Valley earlier this season. I don’t know how we can improve by Saturday, but we must. We are still second, we still have a great opportunity. We’ve just got to get a grip when we are ahead and stop throwing points away. We surely can do it. Am I hopeful?? Always. Are my expectations high?? Alas, not tonight. But if we win on Saturday I will be positive again. Let’s all keep going.
  6. Question: do BBC Radio Derby have an archive?? In particular, Derby County commentaries, and specifically back to the Graham Richards era (early 80’s onwards, was it??)?? The reason I ask is that there are of course a few YouTube videos preserving the magnificent GR commentaries, but I know that there was so much more. Preserving more of his commentaries would be something I could get passionate about tbh. If anyone has any clue how to do this, I’d be very interested to know more. It would be a tragedy if the voice of one of the best football commentators ever were to be mostly lost. Let’s not wait until he dies to begin this project.

    Paul Warne

That fact that this individual was out drinking probably indicates why they are not in Paul Warne’s good books.

    Paul Warne

The second half tonight was appalling and pretty much indefensible. However, to everyone saying “Warne Out”, I ask you: who do you want on the touchline against Port Vale on Saturday instead?? And I don’t just mean “anyone”, or “Bob from down the street”. Who is your actual suggestion for a proper replacement who will improve our performances for the remainder of the season??
  9. No. I don’t love how we play this season. But, it is effective. We are the second best team so far. So far. I hope we will still be second best at the end of the season. If not, let’s assess how we can be better going forward. But how does your negativity assist the team at this stage?? We ain’t sacking Warne, so forget it. Try being supportive instead. Bolton and Barnsley are laughing at the prospect of us sacking Warne. Stop playing into their hands.
  10. We are second in the league with a great chance of automatic promotion. Fans who are going to spend the remaining matches slating our players and calling for the manager to be fired are not welcome at Pride Park for the rest of the season as far as I’m concerned. I’d rather have a crowd of 15,000 that is wholly supportive than a crowd of 27,000 where 12,000 (your figure) are actively hoping for us to lose so that they have another chance to boo the team and manager off at the end of the game.
  11. If we lose the fans who are “the most negative [they’ve] been” then I think we will have an even better chance of promotion next season.
  12. a) Attending football matches is not compulsory. If you don’t enjoy it, perhaps try doing something else on a Saturday afternoon. I promise you, you won’t be missed. b) This is utter nonsense. We are second in the League. Any fan who works as part of a team that is second best out of 24 is not losing their job. They are probably getting a large bonus. The job of the players is to get us promotion. They may or may not achieve it, but they are on track so far. c) May I ask what you were expecting for this season?? Win most games 5-0 and cruise to promotion?? We have only been promoted automatically once in the last 37 years, and now we have a great chance to make it twice. Two more away wins would make this our best away season ever. 20 more points from the last 12 games would make this our best season in modern times (in terms of total points and points per game since 3 points for a win; I’m not equating it to winning the entire League). We may not achieve that but goodness me, if this is the most negative you’ve ever been then I don’t know what to tell you. But it’s definitely a you problem, not the problem of the current players, manager and owner.
  13. My three GR favourites are the entirety of the away play-off semi-final at Millwall, the two goals in 30 seconds against Leeds in our first PL game, and the Shane Nicholson Goal of the Century in the Cup quarter final against Sheffield Wednesday (all of which are available on YouTube btw).
  14. I’m constantly surprised by the number of people on here who seem to be expecting and indeed demanding that we cruise to promotion. It very rarely happens; even Leicester are no longer cruising to promotion this season. We’ve only managed automatic promotion once in 37 years, and we’ve recently been at probably the lowest ebb in our history. It would have been nice to win today, but guess what, the teams in first and third place didn’t win either. We still are in with a good chance.
  15. If we win all our games that includes us beating Portsmouth, and if Bolton win all their games (except against us) that would also include them beating Portsmouth, so under the scenario you’ve described Bolton would finish top and we would finish second ahead of Portsmouth.
  16. Regardless of what happens this season, there is no doubt in my mind that Rosenior had the potential to take us much further than Warne ever will. It was a colossal mistake to get rid of him, which is why many people will not let it go. If Warne takes us into European football then I will absolutely return to this thread and admit I was wrong.
  17. Yes. The only way to know whether a team has had a successful season is to look at the table at the end of the season. For a team like, say, Cheltenham, if they stay up by even a goal scored, it will have been a successful season. If they go down by a goal scored it will have been a failure. For Derby, if we finish second it will have been a successful season. If we miss out, however narrowly, and then lose in the play-offs, most will consider the season a failure. The only thing that matters is the outcome at the very end of the season. Possession, shots on target or expected goals are irrelevant compared to final league position.
  18. Second highest scorers in the league, but yeh, let’s complain about *how* the goals are scored.
  19. I love this thread ❤️ My earliest BBG memory is being in the Normanton End for that amazing 3-3 draw against Sheffield Wednesday in (I think??) 1993. I can still vividly see that Shane Nicholson shot hammering the bar and bouncing in via Chris Woods. I was 10 years old and never experienced anything like it.
  20. Nights like tonight are why we all attend (or follow along at home). Enjoy and appreciate them when they come around. Well done to the team tonight. Happy New Year everyone!! 🙂
  21. I very rarely comment on here. I very rarely view here in fact, I don’t know why… perhaps it can be just a little depressing here at times. Maybe I’m too much Mr. Grumpy. But I saw the news on Twitter on Sunday and immediately looked for this thread. And reading all the tributes really made cry, because whether we posted here 10 times per day, or 10 times per decade, we still all knew of B4. I wasn’t even going to comment, but gosh, sometimes a person you didn’t even know really gets to you. Sometimes you just see the person you wish you could be, and I know that B4 was the first to commiserate when any other forum member had a loss, so I just wanted to join the chorus of forum members in thanking B4 for his wonderful contributions, his passion, his positivity, and his brilliant outlook on life. He has contributed to DCFC life in a way that few of us fans ever will. B4, you will be sorely missed by many many people. Rest well.
