This will be my second season without a season ticket. The first game of last season, I listened to it on the radio and could have cried. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> I have got used to it now - I go on match chat for a laff and go to games when I can, which is good because I miss it and have a better time iyswim, makes it more of an outing rather than a habit.

You'll be in a different situation tho YR as you simply can't get to the games. Get your education in first - there'll always be footie afterwards.

It's easy, and remarkably easier when they're playing awful and having a **** season..

I had a season for 6 or 7 years running, and my final one was when we won promotion (a fitting end at Wembley).. I then went abroad to work and especially for the summer I was checking up on the internet everyother day for signings (Kenny Miller and Claude Davis didn't exactly get the heart racing) and I started to los interest as time went on..

After about 7 or 8 games when we lost at home to WHU I just didn't bother checking.. I just relied on my Dad to tell me when I called him every few weeks.. It was the same (thrashed by Man Utd, thrashed by Aston Villa, thrashed by Everton etc.).. I didn't even know who we had bought or sold in that January transfer window until April or May time..

Football is the life for those that are in and around the area or that have the opportunity to communicate with other fans.. If it wasn't for this forum now, I wouldn't be half as motivated about DCFC.. Without contact with fellow fans it can become abit of a lull..

Most of us have had to give up our ST's at one point in our lives. Mine was when I got married and had kids, played football and worked as many hours as i could to pay the bills. Still went the games whenever I could.

I think the difference was then that it didn't matter whether you was a ST holder or not. You could pay on the day when it was terracing and just go and find your mates.

damn education 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> I wish I could just have the football. I think I am still going to go to the first game of the season and save up my spare money to come back for about 12 games if i can plus some away ones. I used to be able to get radio derby at my uni. just about.

Although it was like 40 miles away or more, being on the top of a 15 story tower block had its uses for tv and radio reception.

Seriously though, are you really asking, what its like not to have a season ticket or not to go to a game once in a while.

Sounds like you need a life

from 1969 - 1989, I was season ticket holder, mistimed an ejaculation and 'hey presto'...

to be fair tho, I wouldn't change a thing, still get to see the Rams occasionally, mostly free,

so if any of you have a spare ticket now 'n then, you know where I am !! 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

bloody hell Mo55y, what a thing to fess up to 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Reminds me of a joke I once heard where a lil lad is watching the space shuttle going up.

Lad says ' Dad, I wish I could have been shot into space'

Dad replies - 'You would have been if I hadn't o'been pi5sed'.

Good thing about leaving for uni is the away games.. I'm at Sheffield Hallam, so I've been to Donny, Hull, Barnsley the last couple of seasons. I was gutted when Doncaster were relegated but relieved that the Wendys were promoted (would have been nice for Untied to come up, I'm a 5min walk from Bramall Lane 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ), so looking forward to Hillsborough in February!

I live in Sheffield for college.. I bloody hate that walk to Bramall Lane through the alley. Urgh.. I've been to about 4 United games.. Against Tranmere, Charlton Athletic , Stevenage and Chesterfield.. The Chesterfield game was stupidly fun.. but yeah, it's not the same but it's fun none the less.. I also went to the Barnsley away game. I cant wait for Wednesday away.

But yeah YR. Go watch York once in a while.. It's not the same but it gives you a chance to see a team you might not see again..

I had a season ticket with my Dad and Uncle in 01-02 and 02-03.. after that my Parents divorced and money got hard and people were working, away etc.. I've only just got to the Age where i can go on my Own.. so i have got a ST this season.

It's fun to watch other teams, but it's never the same. You may find you will be busy on Saturdays anyway, or have no money..

Good Luck at Uni. Matey 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Where abouts in Sheffield are you? I seem to see a fair few Rams fans out and about, probably because its fairly local. Might even see you at Wednesday away 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

This will be my first season in 20 years without a season ticket. I'm quite looking forward to not going to be honest. I had the money but I'm fed up of the board and manager settling for mid table respectability instead of promotion.

I know some people worry about what they would do on a Saturday afternoon instead. Well, so few games are actually played on Saturday afternoon at 3pm, this point becomes less and less relevant.

I certainly won't miss midweek matches and rushing home from work; thank you Sky!
