Is it cruel? Those monsters at Aintree take some jumping. But enough about ladies day, back to the National.......... 2 horses died unfortunately, including the favourite who also won the gold cup last month.

Yeah, 2 again, like last year. What a waste of 2 perfectly lovely animals.

todays papers will yet again be full of stories about the cruelty of horse racing.Absolute rubbish. These horses are treated with great care and affection. It breaks peoples hearts to see them die. Some people wont be happy until the grand national is a 6 furlong sprint with 8 horses.

once a year we have a load of hippies protesting against something they know very little about.

I know it's sad losing 'Synchronised' and 'According to Pete', but i'm absolutely convinced the horses

love this type of challenge, you can tell by the look in their eyes and ears flicking, their whole demeanour..

it is a tough race, but to 'ban' it would be sad also.

There was guy on RD on Friday, who's in the industry, that some horses panic on the run up to a fence, which is where they could become unpredictable and a handful for the jockey to handle. I'm not sure but could this be because the fences are too high or the other horses around it. Maybe a combination of both?

Footballers are dying from heart-attacks, should we ban football as well? 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Considering the sheer volume of players and matches being played day after day across the UK to the actual amount of horse races, no, as the risk is minute, and a player makes the decision if he wants to play.
