Alph
League 1 in three years - that was said about 3 years ago since then we finished 9 points from the playoffs. We've flirted with relegation 3 or 4 times over last few years. Last season we improved but we are selling two major reasons for that improvement. In a league this tight 9pts from play offs..... MrsRam
I blame the board - it can't be a 'footballing' decision. Perhaps we might be well chuffed with the players coming in 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
MrsRam
Just when we thought it was all slotting into place, they go and sell our best player. W*nkers. http://danielmiessler.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/facepalm Yep, instead of kicking on from last season - it's the usual start all over again. Ambitious
Any odds for a Forest reject being the replacment? If we signed Lynch in place of Shackell, without a shadow of a doubt would ask for a refund on my season ticket. like trading messi in for heskey! Ramshankered
Well we've lost our best players in the past and done ok without (I'm thinking of the recent past - the likes of Commons & Hulse). However I am pretty peeved with this decision. Shacks was my fave player from last season. It's all very well to run us on the ol'sound financial footing, but it's pretty pointless if no other clubs are playing by our rules.
REDCAR
I got it.... Tyson feckin useless up front so gonna play him at the back alongside O.B. BINGO!
Asanovic
I don't care if he goes, or how much we sell him for, providing the funds raised can improve the team. If we sell for £1.2m and can get a good replacement, a LB and a CM for that amount (or at least a very good contribution with that amount), then to me it's good business. I'll reserve judgement on his sale (if it happens) until the start of the season when we can see what we've done with the money.

We won't sign Lynch - we couldn't afford his wages. We'll replace Shackell with someone much cheaper, but at least Nigel is probably the best man to recruit a decent centre-back in such circumstances
REDCAR
If Barker was fit I would get it, but not sure who is gonna play as centre half. Maybe Shack couldn't fit in the new Kappa kit, so we cashed in on him. Personally I have faith in Mr Clough and has something up his sleeve..... DON'T YOU NIGEL!!!????????????? Ramshankered
Derby County FC - Why build on success when you can cash in on it instead?

Stedcfc
So this is how we can afford a 77m giant tv screen!! I can't help but notice there's an advert at the bottom of this site of Blackburn rovers season tickets. Is that them picking us off while we're at our lowest? CumbrianRam
Buxton, O'Brien, Naylor, Galinski and Lelan can all play centre back in the current team and are fit. One player I'd consider a decent back up player and 4 young players, massive gamble IF we don't replace Shackell and Barker for the season. i84est
Very bad news as I think when barker comes back he will be like russell Anderson all over again in my opinion we should be looking for a whole new cb pairing
