Guest Posted December 12, 2011 Share Posted December 12, 2011 His deal is 'pay as you play' since he hasn't played, there will be no pay! there is no more to it and when he does get fit hopefully he'll turn into a useful player, until then I don't mind having him in the squad. Anderson will have earnt a decent amount over his time at Derby whilst being injured for large periods. Waste of money. Buxton- limited player on a limited wage. If we need such a back up I'd want one who is available at all times. Ofcourse the biggest waste of money has been Nathan Tyson. And yes that is before I've even seen him play which is precisely my point. Close runners up are Pearson and Leacock; both offered extended terms. Even if we were paying Ben Pringle in food and travel expenses it was too much. Never a championship player. If Nathan Doyle is on anything more than NMW then its a waste. On a serious note, why not just pay off Cywka, Martin and Leacock if they're not going to get a look in? Maguire ain't looking too sensible at 400k plus wages. Clough has said that Riggott can be invaluable to the team when fit, also said he was on a pay as you play deal. I am not saying he has received absolutely nothing, but it really doesn't bother me, its not like what he has received could of gone on a top championship defender, or even a decent back up! I would also disagree strongly with this, his injuries have been unfortunate and I can't defend him in that sense but when he was first signed he put in some great performances, in his first season here he played a lot of games, and never lost a header and if it wasn't for a very apparent lack of pace he'd of played a lot more I am sure. Hulse missed a sitter to equalise, we pushed up to try and get a point, we left the defense exposed and got hit with a couple of sucker punch goals in the last 15 minutes. The entire team had a bad game - not just Buxton. More generally, I like Buxton well enough. When he gets picked to start or comes on as a sub I don’t worry about it. He can have the odd bad moment - but he’s usually solid enough and always tries to play safety first. He’s not someone to keep the first choice CB’s on their toes, OB can do that, but he’s perfect as cover. He’s also cheap so Clough can use his limited funds elsewhere. He’s recovered from injury now and unless we can get better defensive cover for the same money (or less) then I can’t see it makes much sense to get rid of him.
