Gusboll
If you're not watching it this will sound weird but the atmosphere at Rochdale v FC United is f#####g incredible!

EastKentRam
Great game, looked a bit suspect that final goal but they wont care. Man United away in 2 rounds time?
Alex W
To me the FA Cup personifies football, what it is. It beats the World Cup, the Champions League, anything. 11 lads who play semi-pro, work a normal day job can have the chance to play against the greatest players of the age. My god I love football, and I love the FA Cup each year. Can't wait for when we get involved!
Alph
I agree Alex. It's such a shame so many top teams treat it like it's a burden. The way attendances suffer too. People are full of how the FA Cup magic has gone but to a lot of people it's brilliant knock out stuff. Watching the likes of Torres and Gerrard and so on try to scrap it out at the likes of Stevenage. Until Liverpool score there would be genuine belief Stevenage could win!! Brilliant. But when the fans see it as a burden to clubs a lot lose interest. The rewards in the Cup aren't enough to keep the big boys interested. Why would they? When you seem to qualify for Europe by coming mid table in the PL nowadays. It's sad. But there's still a touch of magic waiting to be rediscovered
Alph
And then there's the draw on TV. "number 14" "Derby County" "will play" (c'mon pleeease be United, Forest, Chelsea..... ) love it.
Alex W
And then there's the draw on TV. "number 14" "Derby County" "will play" (c'mon pleeease be United, Forest, Chelsea..... ) love it. "Will play....................Wycombe Wanderers." ".............Well..........that was anti-climactic wasn't it." Wouldn't mind a League Two team at home for the first game, then i'll take whoever. Always like a game where you can sit back and watch us play. Especially when a few fringe players get a chance. One of my favourite games in recent years was the Carling Cup game against Lincoln City. Sat with my feet up on the chair infront, just a great game. Bring on the minnows, then bring on the Liverpool

rynny
you honestly think it beats the world cup? This years, yes. Previous years, no. This years WC is the worst of the 5 I have seen and would have watched almost any football than that, including the JPT!!
Alex W
you honestly think it beats the world cup? Yes, because the England players now don't represent who we are. They're in a whole different world, I don't think they give a **** to be honest. They only bitched and whinged at the last one because they didn't have all their free time the way they wanted it. But anyway....... The FA Cup represents what I love about football. The very cliched 'David vs Goliath' games, a plumber and a painter in the week get to take on the top footballers in the PL. That for me beats the World Cup.

EastKentRam
you honestly think it beats the world cup? The World Cup was a load of ****, domestic football over international football any day of the week.

Perky1106
The thing is it's interesting if you are: One of the Premiership teams and you're in it to win it. A pub team hoping for a money spinning tie and the chance to play against famous professionals. But for the rest in the middle (inc. us) it is a burden and can be a comprimise to league form and just gets silly injuries. When football league teams have 46 games (PL sides have 38) and a slim chance of winning then I can understand any lack of interest. I'm not really that interested in the FA Cup these days. The loss of interest is due to the massive gulfs of the game. If it wasn't for the 'Premier League' things would be a lot different. The whole 'magic of the cup' thing and the fact it's a treat for lower ranked teams is sad and makes the whole thing trivial, when it used to be considered just as seriously to teams as the league. Duracell
This years, yes. Previous years, no. This years WC is the worst of the 5 I have seen and would have watched almost any football than that, including the JPT!! The reality is the average World Cup-qualifying team would find life very very difficult in the Championship. We watch some of the best football in the world in this country in the top 2 tiers. The world cup just isn't majical in that respect anymore.
