Miles Addison

Hardly seen him play, can someone tell me where is he generally better, centre back or center mid?

Defo good to have him back regardless though, as long as he is properly free of injury and not just being rushed

It really depends on the game. He's not a great passer of the ball, but he simply can not be barged off it. Some players back out of 50/50 challenges with him.

In a more physical game in which we can't get out passing game going, he's brilliant at CM, in other circumstances, he's best used as a rock at centre half.

Well he's no flair player mate. He plays an honest came. No nonsense sort of stuff. So his style suits both CB and a DM role. Shame Nigels doesn't seem to view him as a DM. Leacock, Anderson and Barker with Buxton keeping them on their toes doesn't really need Addison looking to fit in there. Hope Nigel has changed his mind

Addison is a big unit even if you were to strip a few extra pounds (i forgot Nigel mentioned that he needs to chill out a bit on the weights lol) and one thing this team lacks is a bit of a scrapper. I reckon there's a job in midfield for him.

Sound for the info guys, seems like a useful player, one i'd put in a Mascherano type position, just behind the attacking midfielders/wingers, but infront of and protecting the back four. From his physical description and strength though i'm thinking he may be a good centre back, I obviously love seeing quality technical and skilfull players but if he can win balls in the air and fecking boot it when in danger, then he is what we need. Never mind all that fancy European stuff just Row Z business if you're a defender!

I wouldn't be surprised if, after Savage retires, we look like this:

--------------------Bywater--------------------

Brayford-------Barker------Leacock-------Moxey

------------Addison-----Bailey-----------------

-----Cywka---------Green-------Commons------

------------Bueno/Kuqi/Davies/Porter-----------

Might swap Leacock and Addison around...

I remember Leacock has filled in the holding DMF role a few times. But I'd rather have Addison there.

Depends on the game.

Leacock's long balls and his distribution, and his little runs are now the main attributes of his game.

Addison's are attributes of power, winning crucial headers and making crucial tackles.

On paper, Leacock DM and Addison CB works better, IMO.

I'd play him in midfield and give him the Makalalie role, the 'water carrier' as a lot of people call it nowadays. Just tell him to win it and give it someone in a white shirt. Bailey will then play as Savage does, or at least tries to, dictating the play and tempo. Plenty of youthful energy and with Bailey a fair amount of football brains too...

Spell it as it sounds.... Never fails.

New op may be required to help Addison recover

Tuesday, November 02, 2010, 11:00

MILES Addison might need to have the screws that were inserted in his foot during surgery seven months ago removed to help him on the road to recovery.

The Derby County defender is well ahead of schedule in his battle for fitness and he has joined in training with the first-team squad.

He was due to play 15 or 20 minutes as a substitute for the Reserves last week but was withdrawn because his foot was sore.

Derby are looking into whether the 21-year-old can train and play with the screws still in or whether they need to come out.

Scans have been sent to California for the surgeon who operated on Addison to take a look.

"Miles' foot has settled down again," said manager Nigel Clough.

"He worked one-on-one with Johnny Metgod on Monday morning and joined in training for 10 minutes.

"If the foot flares again it is almost certainly going to be the screws that are causing an irritation but we will know more later this week after the specialist has taken a look.

"If Miles needs the screws out it will be done locally and he'll be out for about three or four weeks.

"But it would only be a step back to move forward again.

"He has done so much work in the last six months that it would not knock him back too much.

"He is still months ahead of schedule."

Addison has been out for nine months and was told after surgery that he could face up to a year on the sidelines.

His last appearance was in an FA Cup third-round replay against Millwall at Pride Park Stadium in January.

I dont think he will ever be good enough on the ball to be a good midfield player. The players like Makelele, mascherano etc who aplay that rold are still very good when they have the ball and keeping the ball and playing it simple isnt as easy as some people think and we havent had a player good enough at it until we signed Bailey. People always say he is young and can learn which is true but i cant see him ever being good enough in this area. Also young players dont always get better as Lee Holmes, Izale Mcleod, Adam Murray, Nyatanga etc have shown

What about Addison at Cb and Leacock at DM? I think Leacock has the ability to play there, but it may take time.
