derbydan
just gets worse they'll sign no one at this rate Skysports.com can confirm Marlon Harewood's proposed move to Blackpool has broken down. Harewood, who is available on a free transfer after leaving Aston Villa earlier this summer, has been in talks with Premier League new boys Blackpool over a possible switch to Bloomfield Road. The 30-year-old impressed Pool boss Ian Holloway during a week's training stint and he was keen to do a deal with Harewood. However, both parties have been unable reach an agreement with personal terms believed to be the sticking point. Broken down Harewood's agent, Phil Sproson, has confirmed the deal has stalled and that his client could look elsewhere as he aims to find himself a new club. "Unfortunately at this moment in time it's broken down," Sproson told skysports.com. "We will now wait and see what happens and consider other offers." The news is a blow for Holloway as he desperately tries to bolster his squad ahead of the start of the season this weekend.

Hucknall Ram
Blackpool have bolstered their squad with four signings ahead of their first Premier League game on Saturday. Manchester United's Northern Ireland Under-21 defender Craig Cathcart, 21, has joined for an undisclosed fee. The Seasiders have also acquired French trio Ludovic Sylvestre, 26, Elliot Grandin, 22, and Malaury Martin, 21. Ex-Barcelona trainee Sylvestre joins from Czech side Mlada Boleslav, former Marseille player Grandin from CSKA Sofia and Martin was last with Monaco. Cathcart never played for United's first team but spent time on loan at Royal Antwerp, Watford and Plymouth. Midfielder Sylvestre has also played for Sparta Prague and has signed a two-year deal at Bloomfield Road with an option for a third year, as has winger Grandin. Fellow midfielder Martin is a former French youth international and has signed a one-year deal after impressing on trial following his release by Monaco. Blackpool's Premier League opener is at Wigan. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/blackpool/8904013.stm

derbydan
bit of a turn around eh FOLLOWING the news that the Seasiders had landed French trio Malaury Martin, Ludovic Sylvestre and Elliot Grandin and Northern Ireland international Craig Cathcart, the official website can confirm the Seasiders have made their fifth signing of the day. Former West Ham and Aston Villa frontman MARLON HAREWOOD has signed a two year deal with the club and the 30-year-old is expected to make his Pool debut on Saturday when the Tangerines make their Premiership bow at Wigan Athletic. CumbrianRam
Cathcart is a pretty decent defender, untried in the Prem however. Harewood is very exprienced. Don't know owt about the French lads. They sound like better signings than Eddie Lewis and Claude Davis were.
