New season nearly upon us, Starting again with a new manager with lots of unknowns but positive vibes and a pedigree both as a player and achievements as a manager.

New players in of quality and our expectations must be high ,having lost the undisputed quality of Mount,Wilson and Tomori .

let's hope this season is a positive one where we continue to develop and improve from last season rather than a season of transition ?( What ever that means).

With the abilities of Marriott and Waghorn, the continued development and improvement of Holmes and Bogle we hopefully will play attractive offensive football competing for promotion .Special mention for Keogh  for his continued length of service and being reappointed captain.( So many managers can't be wrong)?

Good luck to all and everyone at Derby County Football Club this season, let's hope we have a relatively injury free season,Cocu grasps the concept of the championship quickly, players hit form and as fans we are rewarded with winning ways.

Both have had good pre-seasons and are raring to go, if we are ahead at Huddersfield

they may get on the pitch in the last 20 minutes or so if even on the bench. In an ideal world

we win the game by a couple of goals and they both get 10 minute cameos  ✌️

Certainly is an exciting time but one of many unknowns as per usual at this time of year. Cocu appears an unreal appointment given his managerial achievements. But of course we lost a lot of quality with our loanees going back. Hopefully we’ve replaced Tomori with Clarke, but I’m not 100% convinced that dowell will fit and be enough to replace what mount offered, and of course we await the replacement for Wilson.

However, we have certainly brought in an exciting signing in bielik, who appears to be the new man we’ll build the team around in the long term. Such a big deal is bound to increase excitement if not expectation. And then there’s the unknown quantity in shinnie as well. A lot to keep an eye on for sure.

Never get the calls for a season of transition myself. Hate the term. Football nowadays is never about long term 4/5 years plans really anymore (that’s not to say you can’t plan for your future over that period of time, but you can’t base your present on it). Managers come and go so quickly you can’t really talk about setting the foundations for a season every time you have a change otherwise you’ll never move anywhere. Every season is a season to go for it and this is no different. That’s not to say we don’t implement a long term philosophy too, and I’m not saying don’t use the academy either. Im just saying we shouldn’t ever write seasons off, every season must have the target to take us to the next level up, and I’m sure that’s exactly what’s in Cocus mind.

The squad is currently still too weak to make that step up, but there is business yet to be done that’ll hopefully change that of course. And we still have undoubted quality in certain positions already. So let’s hope this last week of the window goes well and we build a side capable of achieving what we all want- promotion, finally. COYRRRRRRRR
