VAR aint the problem..

Its the way the Laws have been changed to suit it and the interpretation of them.

Spoke to a female footballer last week and to quote within forum guidelines (i think) she rightly said.

' how come you're offside just because you have  massive jugs. Mel C would be onside'

Sith Happens

Steve Mac dropping Beckham from his Squad and only recalling him when it was clear Qualification was in danger.

Beckham was still quality at the time, maybe had he not been dropped we wouldn't have been scrabbling for points at the end, oh and maybe had he played from the start against Croatia too.

All VAR has done is moved the problem, at the expense of much of the joy of the game.

They might get offsides technically right...although the law is now ridiculous...but the argument will move on to the previous phase.

The situation will keep cropping up where, sure, the goal should stand from an offside point of view, but two phases back there was a foul that got missed...so the move that lead to the goal shouldn't have happened.

This will give rise to a clamour for video refereeing of the full 90. If this happens, forget it. Game over for football as an enjoyable spectator event.

By the time that happens they’ll have worked out AI refs, able to make near infallible decisions in mili-seconds.

What VAR certainly does is ruin the moment a goal is scored for fans.  That used to be the moment of unbridled joy for the football fan, unparalleled in any other sport if you ask me.  Now each goal comes with an asterisk next to it....as they are all potentially subject to a VAR review.  It's just not the same and it's a huge price to pay.

I support this statement without doubt, it will mean fans will half cheer a goal while Premiership players surround the ref shouting "var var!!!" and making television signs.
