Mafiabob
Whose going? I fancy taking my kids..... Seen some negative reviews of it though? Anyone had experience of going to them?
Stive Pesley
My auntie used to take us as kids about 40 years ago and it was magical to us back then. I've not been since then but they used to have a flotilla of illuminated boats as well as the illuminations in the trees and that
Sith Happens
They still have them but you cant see them now unless you pay to go in behind the pavilion.
richinspain
If you google it the images are quite impressive considering the size of Matlock. However, who knows how old the images are? I too used to go as a kid, but that was looooooaaaads of years ago ??
Rev
I went a couple of years ago, it was a very nice evening, not too expensive and finishes with a good firework display on certain nights. I'd recommend it if you're taking kids.

Tony Le Mesmer
Mate of mine who is coming to the game tomorrow actually, he used to go every year religiously but has stopped the last couple of years. Reckons parking is too much hassle, parking is a rip off, no bogs anywhere and it's just wall to wall people. Matlock Bath IMO isn't really worth visiting anymore. My dentist is there as are my vets which is the only reason for going now. I used to go a lot with the young un but now it's just a row of chippies (9 at last count) amusements and pubs. There is absolutely nothing of any interest there anymore. Don't let me put you off though man!
LesterRam
When is this delight, is it Matlock or the Baths and can you still park at the train station and catch the train for free by hiding in the toilets?

Went to it, by accident, last year. Walked in approx 5 mins before the cabin opened so got in for free. Didn't represent value for money

Sith Happens
They do a park and ride from cromford mills (or at least did)m makes parking easier but can be a pain when everyone wants to go at the same time after the fireworks

Boycie
Talking of buses from Matlock bath to the cross roads at cromford, we jumped on a transpeak bus once as it was raining and we'd parked at cromford meadows, (not illuminations time) I thought it'd only be a couple of quid for what is only 2 stops. bloody swinehund charged us nearly £6! and there were no bloody seats! and the sarky Bugger said 'hope you enjoyed the trip' as we got off! i complained to the highest level. im over it now though. ? bloody threads brought it all back ? Boycie
In the 70's we used to get some of the old moving illuminations from Blackpool. now alas, it's just strings of bulbs down the river path, and the boats. sorry, and fireworks every two weeks I think?
