Make a move for Assombalonga?

He is arguably the best striker in the division bar none. Judging by his Twitter reaction to Burke, and post Antonio (west ham now England!)  get the sense he may want out. Then looking at the Johnny Russell stuff, I saw this :

"According to the Bristol Post, the Robins are interested in Nottingham Forest marksman Britt Assombalonga, while The Sun is reporting that Russell is a target for the Sky Bet Championship club as well."

We were after him before but could we be after him now? Should we try to get him? Vydra Wilson and Assombalonga - we'd be dreaming up front.

Assombalonga and Martin would been a dream combo in a 4-4-2. Never going to happen however, Forest simply can't sell to us. Especially when there's no need to rock a boat that has started so well.

But the boat is already rocked with Burkes departure plus the resignation of their director of football today. Time for us Sharks to start feeding !

The "reported" 8 players handing in transfer requests is coming from those 12 year old kids Twitter accounts linking every Tom, Dick and Harry all day.

As for Assombalongalongalonga, no chance. Absolutely no chance Fawaz would sell to us, fans are going nuts as it is. No matter how amateurish he comes across, he's not that stupid.

We're a very different proposition to sell to, letting Burke go for £13m to a foreign club is probably good business, particularly when it appears they're in need of investment.

Selling another top striker to your die hard rivals would make the ship do backflips when combined with this. It just can't happen sadly. Also I'd expect bigger fish than us to be in for him.

Reported up to 8 players putting in transfer requests, if he's one id test the water with a bid, the meltdown would be incredible.

Don't see that as a likely scenario.

Players, by and large, do not rock the boat. Besides, a player wanting away is hardly in a position to command a pay rise - and it has been stated many times that players are only motivated by moolah.

I disagree. He's beyond amateurish, he's pretty stupid.

8 does seem an unlikely figure but you can see their better players being fed up with team mates being sold and not replaced.

Assombalonga would be a fantastic signing. Been a fan of his ever since he was at Peterborough.

Agreed. I think he's vastly underrated too. He'd do just fine in the Premier League. Strong in the air and on the ground, works hard, bullies defender, and most importantly he's lethal even with a crap supply behind him ... now's the time for teams to get him because as he recovers from injury and puts numbers on the board, his value will soar.

Crazy risk. Wouldn't touch the guy with a bargepole and have to ask is he really going to pass a medical? He had an absolutely horrific injury. After a very long time out he returned to play the first game of the season against Burton. Since then he's tried to play twice and has managed about 40 minutes of football. A real shame for him as he's apparently a nice guy and I hope it does work for him longer term, but I'm not at all optimistic after what he did.

The Gumps really should sell him while the market is in this weird bubble state, but their intellectually challenged chairman wouldn't consider flogging the bloke to us.
