Make a move for Assombalonga?

Crazy risk. Wouldn't touch the guy with a bargepole and have to ask is he really going to pass a medical? He had an absolutely horrific injury. After a very long time out he returned to play the first game of the season against Burton. Since then he's tried to play twice and has managed about 40 minutes of football. A real shame for him as he's apparently a nice guy and I hope it does work for him longer term, but I'm not at all optimistic after what he did.

The Gumps really should sell him while the market is in this weird bubble state, but their intellectually challenged chairman wouldn't consider flogging the bloke to us.

The difference between us and them, Britt often is seen at the local health club building up his strength alone in the swimming pool, while here he could do it under expert guidance in the club's own facilities.

He is arguably the best striker in the division bar none. Judging by his Twitter reaction to Burke, and post Antonio (west ham now England!)  get the sense he may want out. Then looking at the Johnny Russell stuff, I saw this :

"According to the Bristol Post, the Robins are interested in Nottingham Forest marksman Britt Assombalonga, while The Sun is reporting that Russell is a target for the Sky Bet Championship club as well."

We were after him before but could we be after him now? Should we try to get him? Vydra Wilson and Assombalonga - we'd be dreaming up front.

Simple scenario.... bristol "we want russell 3m" derby "7m or go away.... or option 2, you sign assamplonker for 8m, sell him to us for 10m straight after and then have russell for 4m" bristol "sorted" forest.... "meltdown"

Or, we offer forest £10m. Forest refuse because Fawaz has at least 1 brain cell, but the next highest bid is only £7m. So Fawaz is Oman position where he's either stupid for selling to us, or stupid for chucking £3m away just because it's us.

And the icing on the cake, your plan, club buys him for £7m, we offer club £9m straight away. We've got him for £1m cheaper than we were prepared to pay forest, forest are down a striker and £3m. Grab the popcorn, hilarity ensues.

It's amazing how much someone's reputation has grown having been out injured for 14 months from February 2015 and then managing 200 minutes of competitive football since returning mid-April this year. Since then he's managed just one full 90 minutes. A useful if one-dimensional forward, now crocked, has somehow become the most feared striker in the division!
