Peter Pedant
Darren's worked it out, no need to panic.... http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/Derby-County-Set-pieces-cost-game-Cardiff-City/story-29039494-detail/story.html ....as to why we're playing like a Sunday league outfit I've no idea, but I'm sure Darren will figure it out. RiddingsRam
DARREN Wassall was left to bemoan Derby County's defending at set pieces after Saturday's defeat to Cardiff City. The Rams were beaten 2-1 by their Sky Bet Championship promotion rivals at the Cardiff City Stadium in south Wales. Both goals they conceded came from Peter Whittingham corners. Strikes from Bruno Manga and Stuart O'Keefe fell either side of Chris Martin's equaliser for the visitors. "Both sides had a flat start to the game really but after about 20 minutes, we started to get our passing game going," said Wassall. "We were pleased with how we were starting to control the game up until we conceded the corner that led to their goal. "It's unacceptable that we conceded two goals from that position and that's something we need to do. "Two set pieces have cost us two goals and the game. "Everybody was very disappointed in the dressing room. "We were pleased parts of our game, especially some of our passing. We didn't create a lot of chances but we certainly weren't in a lot of trouble. "Cardiff worked very hard but Scott Carson didn't have many saves to make. It's all about those two set pieces and it wasn't good enough. We need to do better

Alph
What passing game? A game where you make passes? Not a game where you pass the ball here to create space there. To move him from that area so your man can drop in. Can't be that game because you have to have intelligent, fast thinking, confident, aggressive footballers. Let's stop pretending we have a passing game. That's been terminally ill for a year and finally passed away just after Boxing Day

Also, how can you play for an hour and a half and not have a shot at goal? Is this really football at all? We have about six players who could engineer a shot on goal without any help from another player. So their confidence must be extremely low or something a bit more worrying. Ninos
Good god. Listened to his BBC interview and the dude is in cloud cuckoo land ... "We lost because we didn't defend two set pieces" repeat repeat repeat repeat Ad infinitum. really? Set pieces are an important part of the game, Darren. You practise defending them and you construct set pieces at the training ground. I would wager that we have done insufficient work on attacking set pieces (same as Clement) it because we never score from them and we never do anything clever on them ... Except those wasteful tippy tap short corners where we lose the ball every time. Frustrating.

He should have been honest and said Buxton should have started instead of Shackell. He should go down on Jake and beg forgiveness for not playing him from the moment that Jake was available. and he should admit that God was wrong to injure Will, Craig and Craig so early in the season. And then he should admit that Mel was wrong to ask him to help the club until the end of the season. And then he should admit that if it was up to him he wunt of signed Jacob, Bradley, Nick and all the other crapp signings. Then he shud admit that Johnny shud start ahead of Bradley. Yes, he shud admit loads, the ******. I admit i'm pished.
