Often painted as the ultimate bad guy, he could play the gentler roles just as adeptly, just look at works like Truly, Madly, Deeply or Snow Cake. Like David Bowie, Alan Rickman's legacy will be a body of work that will be appreciated down the ages. I'm watching Die Hard right now - Rickman's movie debut and he just oozes charisma and talent.
