StringerBell
From now on I'm insisting on calling Everton by their Pro Evo name "Merseyside Blue" and hope you'll do the same. Everton is a farm shop and that's the first thing that springs to mind when I hear the word. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/12045668/Everton-FC-in-battle-with-village-farm-shop-over-its-name.html
Sith Happens
Best advertising the Farm Shop will have had for years...Everton FC just make themselves look silly even getting involved in it.

It doesn't say but I'd love a court to rule that the Everton name belongs to the farm shop and Merseyside Blue have to change their name.

SaintRam
"She has a shop in the village of Everton, near Doncaster, South Yorkshire, which can trace its history to the Domesday Book and her family has farmed the area since 1440. " What are Merseyside Blue thinking? Crazy action to take.
Shang
It looks like a standard exercise to protect their copyright on the name. Loads of companies do this, as you have to be actively seen to protect copyright whenever something might infringe on it. Otherwise it weakens your protection from actual copyright cases if they ever come up.
