arh, keeping your options open i see.

i don't like agencies personally though, bloody leeches.

I don't mind. Because I'm an Employed Consultant, they have a vested interest in keeping me in work. Saying that, the one I'm looking at tomorrow is a contract - and a pretty decent daily rate too.

bloody he'll, my missus has struggled to find a job since wrapping her consultancy business up, the only jobs on offer are through agencies or very low pay, I think she might be going back to teaching.

IT consultancy is a bit of a niche market though, and the requirements tend to have to be a very good fit to the cv or you don't get an interview. When I re-modelled myself 12 or 13 years ago as a Technical Business Analyst / Technical Author after 25 years as a software specialist, it was tough at first. I'll never land a permanent job though because of my age, so I don't even bother looking.

enough of Eddie leading us down many garden paths.

Ramnut, you must have found some nasty stuff in your time?

i'm sure i must have done.....

i'm struggling to think.....besides photos of a current derbyshire mp topless, or a log book kept by a former dcfc chairman recording the increasing size of his muscles, or stuff like that i can't just think of owt.

i took on a few jobs for a cleaning company in the nineties.  One summer weekend we had a big job at a school in the countryside.  The pupils aged 15-18 had living quarters and spent their whole school year there.  While going through the closets clearing out left behind clothing and such we found a loose panel cleverly hidden revealing a space in the wall.  Inside there was a clear plastic tube that led into another hole in the wall and following that to a room twenty meters away where the tube ended in a similar hidden space behind a closet.  It took us a few minutes to figure it out but then we all laughed.  It was the remains of a distillery.  No, of course we did not report our find to the school master.

  • 2 weeks later...

We had an old tea pot at work and when I went to use it I found a very old furry tea bag in it. So furry it looked like a hamster. We called it SPG the same as the hamster in The Young Ones and it became the office pet.

I also found a very fancy silk rug in the store room on the floor. Those you see like a magic carpet. Turns out it was somebody's prayer mat :(

I used to work in a large office complex. One day it was decreed that a small quiet room at the back of the building should be solely used as a quiet prayer room, mats provided.

This room happened to be adjacent to an old, very-rarely user store room behind our stationery store, virtually unlit, and separated by a locked door, with a very small window in it.

I chanced to go to the store one day around 11 am and couldn't help glacing through the window. These guys were sat around chatting and reading newspapers. Unbelievable, but true.

In my work drawer I have a furry Scooby Doo head that goes 'Scoooby doooby doooo' when you plug it into your phone. a yellow 'Cleaner Ipswich hotline' frisbee and a Middlesbrough FC (featuring Bob Mortimer and Chris Rea cd single called 'Let's Dance'. It was a prize n a music quiz.

As random s it's possible to get I reckon.
