Regarding Delph's £8m buyout clause, while it does seem "cheap" in today's market. His contract was running out this summer and most people were expecting him to move on a free. So it was a bit of a surprise when he signed a new contract in January, a contract he probably wouldn't have signed had villa wanted a larger buyout clause.

I think they are down. Fans are optimistic however. Looking at their squad on FPL... bare bones isn't the word...

Bournemouth favourites against them on opening day.

Nah I don't think they will anyway.

Villa may well survive again due to there being worse teams around them - much like the last few seasons.

It'd be hilarious to see them drop into the Championship.

Nah I don't want to see them relegated!

We need more Midland team in the prem, it's hard enough trying to get decent players to venture out of London and the big Northern cities.

Football in the Midlands needs to be reinvigorated!
