Sankey
Like any market it's about supply and demand and thus in terms of transfer values these will fluctuate quite a bit. Bryson: like people have said he's stronger in our system than he would be in a lot of other clubs. Thus as we saw with Burnley he's probably only worth 1.5-2.5m to other clubs but to derby he's worth at least 4m (what he brings to team and how much I'd would cost to replace). Hendrick: because of age and potential we'd probably look to get 4m minimum. Hughes: greater technical ability, rare in a player so young. Plenty of experience for his age, including internationally at u21 level. Comparable players in this age bracket seem to go for between 7 & 15m. Plus a think with the new home ground rules and lengthy contract I think he'd be at the top end of that bracket. However like any transfer a lot comes down to circumstances of buying club and competition to sign. Like with Luke shaw going for 30m to man Utd, if he's been from any other nation and Utd hadnt had such a shocking season he'd have cost less than half that!! catinthehat
Thorne isn't ours yet. Here is a sample of players you rate higher than Hughes, as in outright, potential, experience at the time of signing and such: Jamaal Lascelles Jake Livermore Jonjo Shelvey Tom Ince Wilfred Zaha Nick Powell Connor Wickham Jay Rodriguez He is one of the most exciting young talents in English football, if we let him go for

Albert
That's true, but Hughes is unproven at the top level, therefore the fee we want and the fee we would get would be a lot different. If they don't pay what we want, they don't get. It's very simple on that side. The more important point though is that "experience" at the top level means nothing with talents like Hughes. From that list mentioned, the following went for over
Albert
To be fair, out of the list that you have put up, I think it could be argued that there is only Lascelles that has shown significantly less potential than Hughes and even he has allegedly had Arsenal bidding

Ramarena
We arguably already have the 3 best centre midfielders in the championship with Hughes, Bryson and Hendrick, and once Thorne signs we will have a centre midfield better than a few premier league teams. I've come to the conclusion that our midfield collectively must be worth at least

eddie
On potential - priceless. In reality - undisclosed. Regarding how much a player is actually worth, it's not strictly accurate to say that it is how much a club is prepared to pay, because there are two clubs involved in the transfer. It's widely been reported that we MGHT land George Thorne for
eddie
That's true, but Hughes is unproven at the top level, therefore the fee we want and the fee we would get would be a lot different. Simple answer - if the fee offered doesn't match the fee wanted, don't sell. That's why this thread is a complete waste of time. This isn't Football Manager. The top 3 are realistic. You may get 1M for Bucko but he is 29. Russell still unproven even though he definitely has something. You will get no more than 4M for Martin. The only teams who would go for him are Championship and no-one has any money apart from Fulham who are behaving like complete dicheads.
