ramafan
Do you think Shaun Barker as a future at Derby? How long do you think we should give him with regards to injuries? It as been nearly 2 years since he played and he must be on decent money at Derby and there must come a time if Barker isn't playing where we cut our loses with him. What do you think? Ramarena
I just saw this on another forum. Shaun Barker has been training but had reaction to his knee (as expected) and with the help of the specialist has found out that his bones around his injury have softened so he now on a course of bone hardening(?) treatment. Mentally Shaun is raring to go and if all ok after treatment will challenge for a place in the team which, by his own admission, will find a difficult prospect owing to 2 factors. 1. The form of those presently in the team. 2. After being out so long it will take a while to get match fit. However Barker is confident that he will be playing again sometime this coming season. Stive Pesley
What this actually means is that he's taken so many corticosteroids for the swelling that he's effectively ended up with osteoporosis as a side-effect. He'll be on biophosphonates (bone hardening drugs) which he'll probably have to take for the rest of his career if he intends to play sport
