If the fee is to be believed then should Derby County be promoted and Thorne is a regular of that side, his valuation would likely double. (One of two if's there granted)

A good and wise investment.

Consider there are sides in the Championship shelling out more than twice that amount on players just shows how cash starved we have become as a club. Fans are in disbelief at the thought we might pay so much for one player.

Or maybe we might pay a high fee and not get a Clod or Earnshaw.

Clod just released by Rotherham I believe this summer so wont be gracing Pride Park again unfortunately. Apparently marked his debut for them with an own goal and a sending off!

Don't know if he will sign tomorrow, the day after or even the week after, but if the price of 5m is true it would be an incredible statement by the club. There was talk not long ago about spending that amount on a striker who we probably don't need and some on here were delighted about it. This would appear to me to be a far more acceptable gamble by the club, and more so by the people who will be paying such a large fee. Everyone in a position to make their opinion known must be confident that GT could well be the most important piece of the jigsaw to achieve promotion! There is no guarantee, in football there never is, but if they're right that gamble will give a return possibly 30 times over. Plus GT's price will probably have doubled or even tripled in the process. If the price is that high I hope to God that some on here won't be complaining after wishing for so long that the owners would get their cheque books out!
