TroyDyer
Clough would have done this if he'd been given the time/funds.
uttoxram75
Clough would have done this if he'd been given the time/funds. He had the time pal. Fook me though, what sort of squad would he have assembled with the funds!

uttoxram75
He may have even got wisdom and dawkins on loan! Maybe. He certainly had an eye for talent as Jake Livermore, Barry Bannan and Tom Carroll would suggest. All banter apart, Nigel is marmite to Derby fans but his record of unearthing/spotting talented players in lower leagues/scotland/ireland/reserves/youth teams etc is pretty impressive. Even Ben Pringle is proving a decent professional footballer. How many believed Jake Buxton could play at this level? He might never reach the heights as a manager due to his lack of tactical nous but he's got more football knowledge in his little finger than all us lot put together. He's done nothing but good for Derby County through a really difficult period in the clubs history and doesn't deserve the snide comments he gets from a few mardarse individuals. Unless of course you believe Steve McClaren is lying when he continually praises the squad Nigel put together.

Unless of course you believe Steve McClaren is lying when he continually praises the squad Nigel put together. This is why I think he would have made a decent DOF. Being kept away from the match day side of things and focussing on scouting and youth development, could have been the role he was best at. It's interesting to see that some players that came in under him either via loan or signing (especially those mentioned above) have gone on to perform better when they have left us. TroyDyer
Steady on Utch, what does he know about football............................ It was written into maccas contract. If he didn't back reference NC, Savage would regularly call Radio Derby to tell us about Madrid and Crosbys league cup.
