National Pool: England team.

Ambitious

At work, we was debating/arguing over the inclusion of Rickie Lambert into the England team saying that he shouldn't be there and there HAS TO BE better out there (key bit), so for all my hard work at work

Not many good strikers are there?

I wouldn't bother with Ox or Walcott. I've seen enough of them and I don't think they're that good. Walcott I think is a mid/lower table PL player. Even if he has convinced Arsenal he could do better.

Hooper and Austin are two players who have scored for fun and yet they can't force a call up. What's the crack?

What's Rooney done to merit a place? Milner? He's been garbage every time he's played for the national side.

Troy Deeney is another who deserves a chance, what harm will it do giving these three an opportunity? All are younger, more consistent and Hungrier than Rooney.

Walcott was very good last season in fairness - 14 goals and 10 assists from midfield/upfront in 32 games is a decent return.

and Ox is 19, find that a little harsh.

On a serious note, I'm  a big believer of picking in form players for the national side, otherwise what is the selection process being based on?

Its a pretty pointless topic though really we all know that the squad picks itself when certain players are fit.

Just for England Ox tries to do too much and Walcott is good up until the point he has to pass, cross or shoot.

Ox has plenty of room for improvement tbf.

Walcott turns out the same performances over and over again. Think he's a bit of a bully v lesser teams (like Defoe and Crouch are accused of) but I don't think there's much quality in him for the tougher games

I just think both are much higher quality than the average though - Ox does try and do too much, and Walcott has really only hit form in the past year, but, in comparison to what we would replace them with, they're key members of my team.

My Team would be;

Goalkeepers

Joe Hart - Ben Foster - Fraser Forster

Defenders

Kyle Walker - Phil Jones - Gary Cahill - Ashley Cole - Chris Smalling - Carl Jenkinson - Ryan Bertrand - Steven Caulker

Midfielders

Jack Whilshere - Michael Carrick - Frank Lampard - Steven Gerrard - Alex Ox-Chamb - Wilfried Zaha - Tom Cleverley - Jack Rodwell - Ashley Young

Strikers

Theo Walcott - Wayne Rooney - Daniel Sturridge - Andy Carroll

--------------------------Joe Hart

Walker-------Jones-------------Cahill--------Cole

--------Carrick-----------------------Whilshere

-----------------------Lampard

Walcott----------------------------------------Sturridge

------------------------Rooney

I think my 11 would be

Hart

Walker

Cahill

Smalling

Cole

Parker

Wilshere

Cleverly vs Oxlade Chamberlain

Lampard

Nathan Dyer (I don't like him but I'd give him a shot)

Rooney

I wouldn't expect to win owt though. But I'd win as much as the "golden generation" I suppose.

Lambert could score a hat trick, but give it ten games after and the same old boring comments would come out....what has he won....not good enough...joe bloggs is better....not hungry enough..paid to much money...blah blah.

England are good enough as a nation, its not the payers fault or the managers, yet for some reason in this country playing for your country is not regarded as an achievement that is held in high respect, but more of an opportunity for people to have a dig based upon personal dislike, bizzare IMO.

As for Lambert, why not give him a go, its a friendly and should be used to look at players that are performing well, whatever the age.
