networker1884
At the start of the season Clough made it clear he wanted to trial a few extra midweek games for the sake of the atmosphere. And yes, with no midweek game this week they thought it a good idea for the sake of the players to bring the game forward in preparation for Cardiff. Also Sam Rush did mention tonight that they make less money from midweek games than Saturday games, and that football 'should be played at 3pm on a Saturday', so it is purely for footballing reasons. Not gonna lie, I do like midweek games. Though if it means others cannot attend because of the fixture change then I am very much against it. Mostyn6
extra time to prepare for Cardiff away? They're our 'bogey' team? (only people who know about trains will get that!)
JohnClement
The reason given for all of these Friday games was to give the team an extra days rest before the next mid-week fixture. This is because we have a very small squad and try and send out the same X1 irrespective of fatigue and what injuries & knocks they are carrying. Of course no one has investigated the possibilities of changing the Tuesday game to a Wednesday. This is unfair to away fans and all home fans who are not local as time off work is necessary to attend a Friday game and depending where you are going it finishes too late to get a train back.
