Hi all,

Okay for those at Pride Park v Charlton we know and saw what Dougie, aka Badge Man meant to all us fans. The respect shown was nothing short of emotional.

So after speaking to the family we have decided that a tribute should also be done for the Forest game which is live on SKY TV. This will give Dougie national recognition and will also show Nottingham that we as fans look after each other and have great community spirit.

So.........

ALL BRING A BLACK AND WHITE SCARF

And on 6 minutes (yes 6 minutes not 86 - due unpredictable local derby) we all stand and sing 'scarfs up for the badgeman'

The Derby telegraph will be covering the story late next week but with the power of forums, twitter and facebook I am hoping the message gets out so please spread the word.

If you thought Charlton was emotional wait until you see 4000 Derby fans at Nottingham showing respect for one loyal servant of our club. Sky TV will be mentioning him during commentry.

Nick

Ahhh cheers mate. Should have opened by eyes though hey. Amazing what websites you can end up on! LOL!

That was a cold Tuesday night and we only took 150 fans.

On the upside we had a party under the flag on 90 minutes which was great entertainment for the Cardiff and Derby fans.

What a horrible thing to say.

Yeah, players. Players who were paid to play football for a few games or so. And when they do die, they get a minute's silence and reports in the media.

But the badge man PAID to watch Derby play for many, many years. Without people like him, there is no Derby. Fans are more important than players.

Still going to Derby games at the age of 86. Admirable. A Derby fan who was alive when we won the FA Cup - they're a dying breed, you know.

How horrible to read that a fan gave a life to the Rams, to be told that a minute's applause and the odd report in a local newspaper is "embarassing".

Shocked to see that. I really am.

If that shocks you, you need to get out more! But I didn't say it to court controversy or be horrible, I have nothing but respect for the old boy, but I think this over sentimentality is a modern scourge.

Several soldiers have been killed or maimed recently, they get a two minutes silence once a year. Is attending your favourite pastime more worthy than sacrificing your life for your country?

It's a free country fill your boots and have an event from now until the end of the season, but I've shown my respects, twice, so I will quietly ignore this silly spectacle that will only end in tears and scorn from the Notts Forest fans.

There are things you argue about and things you don't argue about.

You can argue about whether using Ward as a striker is effective. That's fine.

But if someone wants to celebrate the life of possibly THE greatest Derby fan of all time (sorry Nick 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> ), you do not dispute it. This may be the third event about Douglas' death but I think he deserves to make it on to TV.

Please no more about the badge man. With greatest respect to him ex players have died recently with less being made of it. It's starting to get embarrassing TBH

players come and go ,,,Douglas Else was a passionate Derby fan , why not pay tribute to him , im doubting they will do a tribute every game, and the people like Nick who are organising this have known Doug and Steve Else for many years ,, good of them for this

And you don't have a say in what the senior members of the forum do/don't talk about.

Bloody Groupon Noob.

Did I question anyone's right to do or say anything?

What pray tell is a Groupon Noob? Probably a bit rude and impolite but don't worry the internet means your safe to abuse with no come backs 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wub' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Nah, no abuse will be chucked about Purple, I have me beady eye on everybody 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> . We all have opinions on everything and this I s'pose is no different.

Here's my thoughts for what they're worth,

Mr Else, bless him. I think although he wouldn't have admitted it, I reckon he'd have been chuffed to get a mention by the guy with the microphone at PP or a guy on telly who works for Sky, not to mention recognition from his fellow fans. I'm sure he would have done the same.

Why not give him a fans send off on national telly, what's wrong with that? It's the only thing fans can do after all. But what would be far more important to him, I bet, would be getting the 3 points from his clubs biggest rivals.

And really, if there are chants from any fans, from any club which are in bad taste, they really ought to get a life.
