  1. Here’s hoping those rumours saying talks have started over a permanent deal are true.
  2. For the first time ever I’ve had to use the ignore function, and now I feel bad
  3. Can you start a “AI generated commentary on the championship” thread for these posts please? Or if I start one for you will you put them in there? You keep posting these “detailed analysis”, none of which is your own thought or comment, in a TRANSFER SUGGESTION THREAD. The idea of this thread is for us to suggest and discuss potential targets we think would strengthen the side, or add to what we have, or be realistic for our suspected/assumed funds etc…. Please stop posting these random collections of championship analysis in here…pretty please?!
  4. Percy’s latest article has a couple of interesting points in, one of which is that allegedly a recruitment meeting is taking place tomorrow and Warne will meet out of contract players next week, so probably won’t get confirmation of the retained list until later next week.
  5. Jon Percy saying in his latest article over 20,000 sold already. Not seen anything official from the club on that but if he’s correct it’s decent going.
  6. Agree about Barkhuizen, there’s a couple within the current squad who can do a job in the champ, especially as we should play against teams more willing to open up and play a bit leaving us space to exploit. Him, CBT, NML and ideally a younger, pacier 4th option with Ward and Wilson still around too gives us solid options out wide.
  7. Percy says in the above article talks will start with Cardiff soon over a permanent deal for Adams, also says recruitment meetings will take place on Tuesday (assume tomorrow).
  8. Was just having a little nose at the clubs who finished outside the play offs and there’s definitely some options at the likes of Reading, Blackpool, Wigan and co. Like you say, don’t want to pick over the bones of a doomed club but if selling players helps keep them going maybe we can get a couple signed.
  9. Agent CBT encouraging the signing of Adams with his Instagram comments…
  10. One low cost option for the striking positions I wouldn’t mind seeing us go for is Will Evans at Newport. Contract is expiring, 26 years old, scored 21 goals in 46 league two games this season (25 goals in all competitions). Question marks over his overall pedigree having played in the welsh league before signing for Newport so could be a one season wonder, but looks a decent cheaper option.
  11. Quality free agents signed to contracts with a sensible length aren’t “temporary solutions”. Nelson and Nyambe are good examples from the current season. There are plenty of free agent options available every season and they don’t all fit the negative criteria mentioned in point 3, some are ready for a new challenge, some are ready to step up a league, some may not have fit a certain manager’s approach but would suit another’s. There is a long list of loan players who have supplemented championship squads and played a huge part in their team’s success. Wherever you’re digging up these articles they only tell one side of the story. We won’t have the resources to spend fees on the 7-10 new players required, some of them more than likely need to be free agents and loans, that’s just the reality of our situation.
  12. That’s one of em. Think with a “live” unless someone records it or the person chooses to save the live on their account they just disappear, it’s good seeing them all together enjoying their success.
  13. That’s a very good point, as much of a draw as we are given size, status, promotion and the removal of restrictions there’s still no guarantee we can secure all targets….be very interesting seeing the confirmed retained list (some time this week or next?) and then boarding the recruitment rollercoaster for the summer!
  14. The lads are still on it, Kane Wilson and Cashin both just went live on Instagram, both of them pretty merry and enjoying each other’s company. Must be a great time for them all after a long season of relative sacrifice.
  15. If….big IF…we could get him on some sort of low wage, pay as you play type deal once he leaves Arsenal, with no or low compensation, and we’ve got other options up top I’d be happy to see the club take a chance on him. There’s talent there, if we can get his body to function we’d have a good young player in the squad…. But it’s a risk
  16. Fair enough, don’t agree with that if we sign a couple of other options and they form part of a squad. I struggle with the realism of recruiting 4 or 5 new strikers in the summer all of whom may be expecting to come in as top dog, I think it’s logical to have some continuity of sorts in some areas and then use the available resources to secure whoever the “top” targets are.
  17. Just makes sense to me. Keep them two around, put effort into securing 2 younger, pacier, mobile options giving us 2 x “new”, Collins and Washington for the season, allowing Brown to go on loan and develop further then he comes back to be a first teamer the following season when we wave goodbye to Collins and Wash and sign A.N.Other younger striker. There’s a need for good recruitment this summer and I think some continuity of the team spirit, standards and culture, Collins is a big part of that from what I can see.
  18. Ok, forget sentiment for a minute, how about room for a robust and industrious option who looks after himself physically, sets and maintains standards, and showed this season by scoring 19 goals (14 in the league) and 3 assists (2 in the league) that he’s still a good finisher from open play, set pieces and the penalty spot. His game has never been about pace, but he’s shown this season how hard working he is for the team, I think he’d be a good option for one more season. Collins and Washington as options 3 and 4 up front alongside two new younger options makes a lot of sense to me.
  19. Live scenes of a man fitting @Foreveram’s description atop a bus in Mansfield.
  20. Genuinely thought the emotion from yesterday had waned a little, then you mention Birds and I well up again. As part of his pre match routine my Grandpa would pop to Park Farm to run his errands and always went into Birds to buy my Nana a cream bun, clearly to stay in her good books while he was at the match and a couple of jars deep afterwards, the daft old sod. What a bloody good feeling it is to have that promotion secured for those of us still around and those watching from…somewhere else 🐏
