  1. Personally I think Smith’s a shame as he did a solid job and seemed a good experienced pro to have around, but no room for sentiment I suppose and if there are younger options we can sign with his wages OR provide pathways to the likes of Robinson/Allen etc then I guess there’s sense in it. He gets a lot of credit from me for being a sort of bargain basement “Carrick” the last two years, did the basics of the game consistently to allow others the opportunity to play.
  2. Hourihane, Waghorn, Gayle, Loach, Wildsmith, Smith leaving. Barkhuizen, Forsyth, Thompson triggered 12 month extensions. Collins and Sibley still discussing new deals. Robinson signed a new 2 year deal.
  3. The Iversen links are all from our own posters claiming to be in the know aren’t they? Not seen anything from a media source as yet, which typically means no thread until there is a “reputable” link
  4. Leigh Curtis using one of our favourite words “imminent” with regards to the retained list in this article. Also says “Waghorn and Gayle are expected to leave the club” which adds more weight to some of the rumoured ITK comments on here; This is an interesting quote as well adding a bit of context to the European scouting; “Changes to the rules last summer, meant that Championship clubs are now free to sign up to four overseas players who do not meet the current international visa points system.”
  5. Players have to be notified by tomorrow according to EFL rules, doesn’t necessarily mean the club have to make the list public by tomorrow. Not sure why but I suspect we may have it at some point this evening
  6. His loan contract at Stoke officially ends next month, looks like he has another year on his contract at Leicester (according to Transfermarkt which may be inaccurate)
  7. There’s some logic to that, was Stoke’s first choice keeper on loan from Leicester second half of the season but with Stoke signing Johansson and Leicester have 2/3 other keepers ahead of him maybe he’s available on the cheap 🤔
  8. Blackburn signed Kaminski for £500k and sold him for £2.5m to Luton, if a player is good enough there’s always chance of profit. Not saying I think we should sign Johansson, but spending money on a well thought of 25 year old goalkeeper doesn’t seem completely irresponsible. Rumours are he’s off to Stoke anyway so it’s probably a moot point.
  9. Purely seeking clarification on some inconsistencies of course, the doubt has already been cast by Simmo him or herself 🤣 We’re offering Burrows a contract despite him being under contract at Posh…. Smith had a bad attitude after being dropped, I wouldn’t interpret a 62nd minute knee injury in a game in November that kept him out until February as “being dropped”, and before then he’d played an active part in the side as well as coming back into the team after his injury… BUT maybe I’m mistaken in my interpretation 🤷🏻‍♂️
  10. Dropped out of the team….following the knee injury he suffered on the pitch against Bristol Rovers on 25/11/2023 and subsequent recovery time of several weeks? Having been involved in all 17 league one matchday squads up to that point including playing 90 mins in 10 of those games? The same Korey Smith who seems to be a well liked and respected member of the squad and has from the outside seemingly always conducted himself as a top pro and played out of position for the cause? 🤔
  11. As of a couple of days ago, out of the 48 championship and league one clubs only something like 24 had released their retained lists so we’re not behind everyone, and what’s out there in the public domain isn’t necessarily evidence of what the club is doing recruitment wise as we saw with signings in Jan and last summer, a lot of them were kept well under wraps from media and social media accounts.
  12. Whether the post was intended as a joke or not my points still stand, I’d want the club to spend sensibly without taking unnecessary risk, and think that’s what we’ll see.
  13. Isn’t that partly the type of thing that caused this situation in the first place (along with several other contributing factors)? Spending relative to the club’s size and revenue makes sense, but not at the point of risking the club’s existence in my view. The increased revenue and any residual cash left in the bank from perhaps the Knight and Bird transfers could see us with a transfer pot of a few million quid, say anywhere between £2-5m (a complete guesstimate based on nowt but my own nonsense thinking). That money used sensibly along with the players we still have in the building is enough to strengthen the squad for this season and beyond, the interesting bit will be whether the club, the recruitment team, and Warne are able to maximise value out of whatever that pot is.
  14. Went looking for an existing thread on Hourihane but the one I found is locked, as mentioned by @Eoghan1884 in the retained list thread, the Yorkshire Post is linking Hourihane with a return to Barnsley in a player-coach role; https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/football/barnsley-fc-manager-latest-ex-boss-emerges-as-candidate-with-former-captain-also-linked-4629685 It’s only a short line without much context; “Meanwhile, former Reds captain Conor Hourihane could also be a potential candidate for a player-coaching role, it’s understood. Hourihane, 33, is currently at Derby County.” Wait and see I suppose but it’s got the Barnsley tongues wagging on X/Twitter.
  15. If this relates to Burrows then yes, he’s listed as “under contract” by Posh on their retained list so the idea we’ve offered him a contract seems a little unlikely….
  16. What is the socio-economic background, educational acumen, and aspirations of “most” league one and two footballers? Where did you find this information?
  17. His legs might have gone, that’s something we all saw at times this season, but in what way has his heart gone? If you know of a physical ailment that hasn’t been made public please share. If you mean his passion and commitment I think he’s shown plenty of that this season despite his ageing legs, scored key goals, made assists, accepted a reduced role at the back end of the season and still showed leadership to his colleagues from the bench and on the training ground. Baffles me the sticks people invent to beat people with.
  18. This is one of those nonsense myths around Warne that some people just won’t drop. Just because the press or questionable football accounts on social media link us with a player doesn’t mean we’ll sign them. Last year we signed players from the following clubs; Arsenal Blackpool Bristol City Cardiff City Charlton Coventry Hull Luton Notts Forest Peterborough Rotherham Stoke Sunderland Wigan The January window the season before we signed players from Norwich and Spurs. We’ve been told the club is looking at players across Europe, yet still some people want to peddle the myth that we only sign Rotherham cast offs 🙄
  19. It has to be by this Saturday (3rd Saturday in May by EFL rules) that players are notified of what is happening with their contracts so I suspect the list will be out this week.
