  1. Update after today's results Barnsley winning away has tipped the odds to them but it's still very tight
  2. Either way this set up just isolates Gayle. The only way to get something out of his type of striker is to have someone just never more than 5-10 yards behind so they can latch onto his movement of defenders. If Bird and Adams are playing that flat 2 were gonna need Sibley and Ward to not give the ball away so easily when we've committed to attacks.
  3. Because it's so close to the end of the season it's futile and depending on how far you take it toxic to bang the drum of Warne out when really us fans just need to keep a positive atmosphere and hope we achieve promotion. I'm still concerned however with the structure around Warne since he was appointed. I understand and appreciate Clowes went with the plan of getting Warne in who is proven in getting out of this league and also sticking by him after last season and even earlier this season but it didn't address the problem we had under Mel which is being manager-proof in our philosophy of football and recruitment. A major reason why we spent so much money was to supplement the manager of the time rather than thinking long term. Signing Nugent instead of Ollie Watkins springs to mind. It seems the modern structure of clubs who are copying success stories of Luton, Brighton, Brentford all have a common theme of separating the recruitment from the manager/coach and basically giving that power to the Chief Scout/Director of Football/However you want to title it. The manager/coach just basically coaches and if they can't with the players they are dealt they go! Those above clubs have had managers come and go and it's not phased them one bit in terms of their progression. It's almost like the NFL where the structure is Owner - General Manager - Head Coach. What I worry going into this year because realistically Warne is staying barring us missing even the playoffs that we continue to give him total control over the recruitment and it results in more players like Callum Elder, Conor Washington and John-Jules. If Warne struggles early on like he did this season and he's gone does Clowes go for a similar manager or a completely different playing style. If it's the latter that will be a waste of a first window without restrictions and a waste of money. This is what I mean about us being manager proof! The crucial question that should be posed to Clowes is what type/style of football does he want to see and does he think that matches the majority of fans opinion as well because right now we have style of football that is hard to watch for a lot of fans who have grown up with Stevie Mac.
  4. The kit is in tribute to the surface we used to play actual football on
  5. I try not to think about that but thanks for giving me insomnia tonight 😂
  6. Yes he did say that but for further context he carried on by saying 'I've always said there is another gear we can get to' The most irritating bit from the interview was a facetious comment in the lines of 'we needed their keeper to take out one of our forwards'
  7. Tonight's predicted table update Tight is an understatement!
  8. RD making a great point that maybe our staff is too emotional and make too many drastic changes such as changing from 4 to 3 back to 4 again playing Sibley in 3 positions over the course his spell. Understand our undoing during Stevie Mac was being too one dimensional but are we under Warne far too fluid in our set up and this lack of a clear attacking plan when Collins got injured is effecting us.
  9. Wigan have scored. Doing Mr Warne a great big fat favour right now!
  10. I brushed off the mistake Wildsmith made at Oxford as a one off but for him to do the exact same but even worse as players were back is criminal. Is it worth it now to drop him for Loach even until Vickers comes back?
  11. If it's true about puma being the kit supplier I would guess we're going for a bit of a remake of the 95/97 kits where it had a bit of yellow/gold trim as next seasons season ticket campaign is using the Centenary Gold, Victory Blue and Founders’ Green colours.
  12. Exactly surely at this stage in the season and the position we're in people can park the hokey-cokeyness of their opinion on Warne aside until the season has concluded. It's like saying shoot the horse when it's neck and neck when it's coming on to the final straight.
  13. We were more custard tart than cream doughnut today
  14. Update after today's fixtures. After the past couple of predicted tables it really shows how tight it is now!
  15. Frustrating loss but there was very little between the sides. Wildsmith must have been wearing his boots on the wrong feet kicking was abysmal today. Back before the Charlton game when there was 16 games to go statistically teams that land in the top 2 on average won 10 drew 4 and lost 2 this is our first loss since then. We can allow another but we can't let this loss effect us too much. Keep the faith!
  16. This game has lost all momentum since their goal we need a moment to spark it up again
  17. Entertaining half of nervy high tense football. Reminds me so much of a play off 1st leg. We're right in this and it will be interesting when/if we put Gayle on he has the movement to break their high line.
  18. It appears Leeds and Spurs are looking at signing Festy in the summer from Udinese. Would we have any sell on percentage at all meaning as he moved on a free to another country?
  19. Agree It's no knock on him actually I think Ed would make a good commentator for Rams TV because he would provide a bit more drama whilst not having to provide the play by play.
  20. It's going to be hard to get rid of the current matchday set up at the moment with Gibbo back on as the presenter and Dom as the main commentator. Dom for me really does do a better job of describing the play in more detail and is far less dramatic and more factual when there's a contentious decision/moment in the game. Sometimes with Ed it felt too much that you were listening to a fan who's mic'd up than someone who was commentating. I'm just happy that the recent wave of BBC radio cuts this past year didn't result in the football service stopping or in some cases with other BBC local radio sport services sharing the commentary with the opposition.
  21. It's not surprising when his father (Lord) Doug Hoyle was the founding member of Labour friends of Israel. I think the key thing to understand that it wasn't so much keeping his speaker position was the threat but having a comfy seat in the Lords taken away so little Lindsay could replicate his father. You can see why he was so soft on Boris in the commons and all the shenanigans he played because really they are two cheeks of the same nepotistic arse. Sidepoint It will quite interesting how much of last night's debacle will carry any weight going into the election in Scotland after they have lost so much ground to Labour since Sturgeon leaving. If I was the SNP i'd be milking this cow for as long as possible.
  22. Could you imagine the state of this place if we ever got Stuart Atwell again.
  23. Yeah I agree from the clubs standpoint maybe it's worth just a quick call to the PGMOL or FA to double check is he impartial enough but it's not worth us getting into some proxy war via the media for it and creating a sideshow from what looks to be a really good match this weekend. I'd hate for this to boil up so much that the players get effected and distracted by this. It's worth mentioning we actually have a positive record of 10 games (5 wins 4 Losses 1 Draw) with him reffing most recently the FA cup 2nd round win vs West Brom last season. That's the only time he's officiated us since 2016.
