Derby v Stevenage FC - Match Day Thread
Chris_Martin replied to Heisenberg's topic in Derby County Forum
I think you'll find most of our team is championship level, not league one. 'One of the best away records' which is actually only 2 wins in their last 7 away games. Kind of shows the poor standard of teams we're up against if anything -

I'm aware of the results thanks. My problem is why do we play so negative. Why when we have the best players in the league are we always playing as though we're the underdogs? -

Why not credit him???? Because he set us up like that. 2 shots on goal all game is embarrassing. -

I would put Bird in the same bracket. Both are a level above this league -

He was forced to was he ? I suppose he was forced to play 8 defensive minded outfielders too ? 2 shots on goal all game, playing stevenage, at pride park, in the 3rd division. And your crediting warne ? -

helps if you only play 2 attacking players... -
0-0

All three goals v Exeter were prime example

what? i highly doubt clowes would have given a different manager more money to spend. He has a budget for the season, I think almost any football league manager would struggle to get relegated from league one having all these players
-
that has a defined way of playing football as a team. we have no patterns of play, we are a side that relys on individual moments.
-
Another thing you cant answer then😅
-
thats very unspecific what are all these variables then? I'm pretty sure the no.1 thing that determines how well we do, will be how we play football.
-
but they're not regretting it now... a team that quickly puts loads of crosses in is not an identity
-
point being they were a possession based side then changed and went to a counter attacking style. Fine. We are neither, we have no identity
-
it also shows just how incredible our squad is for league one
-
Lets be honest, the clean sheet was a touch fortunate. They did hit the post and accumulated 1xg to our 1.2xg, as well as having more shots. The 3 goals were good quality, but the problem is that there is just no pattern of play to either our attacking or defending. We just completely rely on moments of brilliance from a NML or Bird for example. It's identical in that regard to Didzy last season. We are basically the man utd version of league one. No identity, no pattern of play, fairly boring to watch, heavily reliant on moments from individuals, and just getting enough results to keep us near the top.

doesn't warne always say something like get it forward as quick as possible though ? it's one of the reasons we have such little possession and struggle to control games

Exeter City V Derby County: player ratings
Chris_Martin replied to Ellafella's topic in Derby County Forum
if we're counting then there's at least 3 others that only gave him a 5 so i'm not the only one that didn't think much of his performance. Despite being a target man, he lost most of his headers and duels. On the rare occasion he did hold the ball up, 50% of the time he missplaced his pass. I understand we have no one else fit at the moment, so he'll have to carry on playing. I just don't see how that performance warrants anything above a 5 -
Didzy made most of his goals himself last season
