  1. Agree with what you’ve both said. I agree with the pros and cons that @Caerphilly Ram has mentioned. I also share @Comrade 86 points about the long term. I’m also not convinced he’d be sacked if we didn’t go up. My thoughts are lose at any stage in the Play Offs and he’s still in charge next season, miss out on the Play Offs and DC has a bit of thinking to do.
  2. I meant Wilson has jumped ahead of Ward at RB. Agree Nyambe will be 1st choice when available. I think is Ward is now 3rd choice for both RB and RW positions.
  3. I see little point in changing now and I do believe we’ll be top 6. Top 2, who knows. It could come down to what happens in the next few days, who goes , who stays, injured players coming back and, out of al, the clubs up there, who can be most consistent. I did walk away yesterday slightly concerned for Warne. The booing, jeers sarcastic cheers when Hourihane went off doesn’t bode well for him long term. I said to my mate, it’s a long time since we’ve heard that level of angst in a home crowd. It’s a shame but I do wonder if he’s reached a tipping point?
  4. On the comment about someone on the fringes not getting the game time they want, I wondered about Joe Ward. Nyambe comes back this week and Wilson has jumped ahead of him at full back. Smith can also play there. In the wide midfield position we have NML and Wilson ahead of him on that side. Just a thought 🤷‍♂️.
  5. For 60 minutes it looked like they were still in Reading!! One of the games where you’re glad you’ve got the 3 points but know you’ve got away with one. But, there are no bonus points for playing well. That said, we do need to start doing the basics better. Too many times in the last couple of games passing the ball more than 5 yards seems to be the most difficult thing in the world. And the players have to bear their share of the blame and that really is basic. They do seem to have character though. After Tuesday, to behind at home in what was, at times, a pretty nasty atmosphere takes guts. Booing - never understood it, never will. I think that if I had people following me around at work and they booed me at lunch, would it motivate me for the afternoon. No. Footballers are no different.
  6. Had the darts on tonight. What a month Luke Littler has had. 3 tournaments, 3 finals and won one. Not bad at 17.
  7. Which we may well have. Doesn’t mean anyone can’t outbid us. Did read anything about the loan/transfer pots earlier the week? And the budget will be all encompassing.
  8. Nope, just explains the reality of our situation and the limits of our agreed business plan. No blame attached to anyone. You choose to interpret it like you have because you’re looking for something to blame Warne for.
  9. What a ridiculous thing to say. He’s saying how it is and you’ll use anything as a stick to beat him with. It’s just the situation we are in and working within our business plan.
  10. And Keir Starmer was the Director or Public Prosecutions when cases were brought to court. But says he didn’t know it was happening. It doesn’t matter what your political persuasion or bias is, no-one comes out of this looking good.
  11. Just on the bold bit, I seem to remember that in August Warne saying he wanted another defender but the player in question was hanging on to see if any Championship offers came in. When Nyambe signed on his short-term deal I assumed he was the player Warne was talking about. Of course, I could be completely wrong, just my assumption.
  12. The good old crackle of vinyl!! I’d offer up Darkness on the Edge of Town, The Works and Brothers in Arms.
  13. To answer the OP, no he doesn’t deserve the vitriol, although I suspect there’s more of that on Twitter. There is the odd comment about PE teacher, etc on here and I do think that’s uncalled for. Does he deserve criticism, yes if performances and results don’t go to plan. Preferably constructive rather than a one-liner with no substance. Now we’ve lost a game, we’re again seeing the odd comment about his why wall, good people, etc. Again, I think it’s uncalled for. I’ve done leadership training led by a lot of sports people and tools and techniques such as why walls, belief walls, etc are common in sport. Most sports, individual and team use these provide purpose, confidence, etc. And as for good people, I watched an interview with Thomas Frank on Sky and he was asked what he looked for and first of all it’s good people. Gary Rowett has a podcast and he discussed the transfer window. Again, he came back to good characters and people. If it’s a weakness, Warne is probably too honest in actually talking about these in a way other managers don’t so it be ones a stick to beat him with. Most posters are balanced but occasionally it goes over the top. As someone said to me a few years ago, don’t go overboard with the highs and don’t get too down about the lows.
  14. That’ll be switching to 3 at the back and high press. Wonder who prefers to play that way?
  15. My biggest problem last night was not doing the simple things. Too many passes were astray, overhit or short. We couldn’t keep hold of the ball, lacked composure and gave it away too easy. We created our own problems rather than Reading creating them. I really hope Warne and his team give them a rocket when they show them the video. Cashin looked poor, as he did on Saturday. I seem to remember him being poor at the start of the season. In fact, but maybe his agent is in his ear 🤷‍♂️. Elder comes out with some praise. He made a few last ditch tackles to bail out his team-mates. He does look to be getting better the more he plays. Still a long way to go and on to Saturday 🐏.
  16. Why can’t we all just be pleased we’ve signed a player for a fee, albeit a loan fee instead of analysing how it might or might be structured. Maybe it’s a legacy from mad Mel. We’re no longer run by someone who got a bit lucky in the IT world, we’re now run by, in my opinion, a sensible businessman. Lets just enjoy it as another step on the road to being run like a “normal” football club.
  17. Didn’t we do something similar with Frank Fielding? I seem to remember him coming on loan and an agreed permanent move but he couldn’t play during the loan cos he was injured, number of loans, or something. Maybe my tired brain is remembering it wrong 🤷‍♂️.
  18. We must be reading it differently. My take is that under the terms of the agreed BP, we can pay for loans but the only way we can pay for permanent deals is to sell first. We don’t want to sell anyone. We pay for the loan and he’s already agreed a permanent contract. The £300k is out of the loan fee pot that’s part of our BP, so it’s affordable.
  19. Why? I think it’s explained pretty clearly and makes sense. Think of it as we’ve effectively paid £300k for a 26 year old on a 3 1/2 year contract. Good business.
  20. I could get into a whole range of things here but we’re a “want it now” society. Everything has to be instantaneous. I posted tongue in cheek but I do believe there will be some (more on Twitter, x or whatever it’s called) that if he hasn’t beaten a full-back, got an assist or scored in his first 45mins that will be saying he’s a waste of money and a waste useless whatever insult they choose to throw at him. Sad really 😢.
  21. 2 or 3’s about right but your units may be wrong. Seconds, minutes or touches more like!!
