Israel expressing it's right to self defence against starving Palestinians. Opening fire on crowds. Classic IDF banter.

I want to agree. But we have to accept self defence (Ukraine) is justified Problem is that when anybody declares war it's always for self defence, national security, regional interests etc. And even when it's opposed there's often enough support in the echo chambers to support preemptive strikes and "military operations". Look at the gaslighting on the protesters against the Iraq war. The other weekend approx 250,000 people marched in London. There were 12 arrests. Look how they're spoken about. Look how warmongers talk about these demonstrations being disruptive to peace and democracy When a tyrant convinces enough people that Kurds/Jews need to be eradicated then what do you do? Spectate? I do think wars can be justified. But it's too easy to blur the lines. Skirt around international laws. With a touch of provocation you can self defence yourself to having military bases across the globe.
  3. When parents we know are desperate to use autism or ADHD to excuse their child's awful behaviour. In my head it would be something that I'd explore after I've put effort into parenting. Not before. It's hard to be understanding when one kid has pushed other kids off the bouncy castle all day while you occasionally mutter "oh George, don't do that please" while having your eyes glued to TikTok/Insta

The only thing the SNP did/said that was wrong was that they stormed off in a tantrum. More offended by not being able to vote on their own motion on their own day. It's understandable. But the issue was bigger and more desperate than procedure. They should have at least supported the labour amendment for the sake of Gazans. Hoyle apologised. Said what he did was wrong. Then pooped on them again. The SNP concluded that Israel is guilty of war crimes. Which they are. But then you've got people who are more angry at the SNP for being angry than they are about ethnic cleansing, war crimes and potentially genocide. They'll complain about the brightness of the sun if it avoids talking about the slaughter. It's something we see a lot of. Hypocrisy with the stance on Ukraine/Russia. The hunt for Antisemitism where it doesn't exist (there's plenty out there without using it as a shield to defend an abhorrent position) while blatant Islamophobia in the House (that's the second time this year) is given the airbrush treatment. Hoyle, of course, did it for the safety of MPs. Given all the ducking and weaving these lot have done. Given the position that the rest of the world is taking. Given the outrageous comments by MPs. I call a steaming pile of bs. Because I think it's more likely that he's falling in line with the eagerness from our politicians to offer political and military support for Israel. Which continues by the way. So let's skip the part where we pretend to be shocked at any such accusation. God forbid the UK officially call out Israel on war crimes. They're clearly not guilty....

Lindsay Hoyle apologised. Said he made a mistake. But clearly he didn't make a mistake. He's doubled down on it. The protection offered to Israel is disgusting. They can't even call out Islamophobia now when it's blatant but have been smearing everyone opposed to the mass murder as antisemtic. Still we send them weapons. We condemn Houthi attacks in shipping lanes. But we can't condemn Israel blocking aid trucks. The world is pretty much united in a ceasefire. The world has seen enough murdered Palestinians. But not America or Britain. They stand isolated in support of Israel. Calling Peace Protests "Hamas supporters". Crying about the chants of "From the River to the sea" while the Likud Party policy is the exact same. The Iraq war was shameful. This? This is complicity in ethnic cleansing and collective punishment. Perhaps genocide. That's what our politicians are about. Anybody who tries to muddy the waters with this "self defence" or "collateral damage" or any despicable gaslighting bs... You should be ashamed of yourselves.
  6. Looks like GGG has retired. Good. Before somebody he would have whooped 5 years ago manages to outpoint him by being young and fresh.
  7. I saw her whole CPAC speech. You have to admit she has a point The Radical Islamist Party is proving hugely popular with the Trans activists. It's quite frightening. You look at these Pro Hamas marches now and you've got all the Pride flags everywhere. Really grinds my gears. Left wing extremism has gone too far. The banks are in on it. The EU are pushing it. I always said it. Liz Truss was the right woman at the wrong time. When she comes again it will be when we need her. With Farage by her side. Assuming he doesn't become too left wing for her before then.
  8. The line should be drawn just before Liz Truss steps up to a microphone? (Joking btw, let it all be heard)
  9. But imagine if she was your problem to make a decision on. What would you say? I'm in the conflicted as feckery camp.
  10. To be honest it's not THAT bad if the fight for second best is competitive between 3 teams. Like last season we ignored Max after lap 2. If Perez flies around in second place and then it ends up a Mercedes only battle for third.... might be best to watch Last Of The Summer Wine on Sundays. It becomes the equivalent to the "Who will get that last Champions League spot!?!?!"

Well, I can't imagine politics in this country could sink any lower after tonight. Well I do hope Lindsay Hoyle keeps his job. It's clearly very important to him. Bravo Labour. The Israel Lobby will be very pleased. And our American overlords too. Everyone's a winner. Well, everyone that matters
  12. Don't see how you could. Taylor has the pedigree, he was always expected to reach the very top and dominate. Yet he comes off the back of a dodgy win over Catterall and defeat to Teofimo Lopez (thought he'd win that too). Going with what @CWC1983and @Henrycav81are saying about his off field behaviour... Like @JubbsI'm starting to lean the other way now. Should be fun though with the genuine tension between them. Do you dare stick money on Ngannou btw?
  13. I'm definitely not going to say I hope it ends the same way because that would be pretty sick. So I'm not going to say it
  14. Somebody who likes to engage in controversial debates. I think, Piers Morgan might be their leader. Katie Hopkins deputy. It's not great when you need Google to understand what's being said, is it. But at least I was smart enough to pick an indoor job in the UK. 😛
  15. Probably more the other way if I give my thoughts. That Putin perhaps thought the backlash could be swallowed up by coverage/debate the Assange case. Because I've seen"Assange is the West's Navalny" type stuff. Or not. Coincidence then? I was genuinely asking. I think it was The Times and an interview with Tariq Ali I saw this morning had that kind of headline.
  16. I apologise if this is in some of the links posted in the thread. The timing of this Navalny death with the Assange case? Not coincidence? Convenient cover for either side?
  17. You missed my joke. That's what you accused people of in the Palestine thread. I had to Google Polemicist after you said it. I'm a humble plasterer... I have no problem with anybody criticising Russia/Putin. I spoke early in the thread about what America/NATO could have perhaps acknowledged and about groups like Azov and situations in Donbas etc that the media forgot to mention. But ultimately there's nothing that justified this warmonger Putin. So there's zero will from me to argue against anyone criticising him now after the horrific war crimes in the the name of national security. There has been a dip in support for Ukraine and I have seen much about how The West have no moral high ground etc. Even if I agree on some of it I only see how it is being used to undermine Western influence on world affairs. Which again, I'm usually on that side of the argument. But too many people (some independent journalists for example) are losing sight of the Ukrainian plight Stive asked if there's truth to Navalny being less than perfect. Which there is. But it's not being reported. I figure the reason is because this whole story can be used as a reminder of what Putin is. So they're running hard with it. Cameron suddenly remembers what a war crime is for example. It makes sense that Navalny be presented as this great democratic hope of Russia even if it's not quite true. I don't have a problem with it at all. He's better than Putin. My post wasn't meant to be a snide dig over the Gaza war. (I did that already). It was me putting forward another reason that the press have "bigged him up". I see now there's a great wave of support for Navalny's wife. Again, no problem. But that's not all just sympathy. It's supporting another headache for Putin. Makes sense. I just hope she doesn't find herself in some "accident".
  18. Taylor Catterall 2 is at 140 again? I'm surprised at that. I thought weight was one of the reasons Taylor said he underperformed no? Might have made that up. Still think he'll do the business but he has to find his way past that awkward defence. Sandy Ryan back next month in a good fight. She's sparring Clarissa Shields in preparation
  19. Good man. But just spill your guts on here if you need to. Same goes to @Scott129 It's anonymous here so that can make it easier. It doesn't have to make sense or be justified. You're not going to be judged or (the worst bit) have people run away because they suddenly see you as bit of a drag. So I'd say just use this space as a dumping ground for those thoughts that rattle around your head doing damage. People often can relate. Might even help someone reading.
  20. Get a grip. I'm not hysterical. I don't read the Guardian. I'm actually sympathising with Ukraine as some of the comments and narratives I've seen has kind of been to question "why should we support the West when they've shown such hypocrisy". Something which I disagree with as I'm Anti War unless that nation is acting in self defence. Which Ukraine is. And people have questioned how long we will continue to fund a a fight against Russia that we will likely not get the result we want. Again, I disagree because you know, I think Russia is the other side of the coin from America and therefore just as repulsive. So you should fund Ukraine for as long as they need it and for as long as you can. Now. I refuse to argue with polemicists who are just on their soapbox about the whole thing. It's only a little war. So I'll leave you to your thread as clearly I'm not allowed to provide theory or context. So I won't engage any further. You can continue your hate filled rants against an aggressive state with an insane leader. I hate that kind of thing. I'm joking of course. At 38 I'm a little to old to be stomping off slamming doors. But i wanted a diva moment too. I see why you do it. I feel amazing (Oh, you also missed the part where I said I had no problem with it.)
  21. Three, turn the heat and attention back to this conflict because public support for funding Ukraine was starting to change? Like with any war, the general public soon become numb to the images and news stories and attention turns to how it's effecting them? Especially with what's going on in ME, the Putin interview etc was the public shockingly losing sympathy for Ukraine? If the pressure can go hard on this story that evil Putin killed a saint who would have freed Russia from tyranny then we're back on to "this must be stopped!" Not saying I have a problem with that spin. Not in the slightest.
  22. Media going hard with this to turn attention from the ME. Some beautiful hypocrisy at play.
  23. Before he retires? You think he'll get beat (again)? I fancy him to show up big time. Remember few years ago a lad I knew was part of Dave Ryan's camp (part of Sandy Ryan's now). He said we're going to be taking Dave up to Scotland to fight this lad who they're making a fuss of. They're saying he's going to be something special. But Dave has experience and might be able to upset him. You know Olympians are sometimes too clean boxers and don't like a fight. That was Josh Taylor. I feel like if he loses this that he's not quite hit the mark that was expected. Glad he's took this fight. Catterall deserves that at least Not disrespecting Taylors fantastic career but I think he was marked to not just win world titles but become a star of his era and win biggest fights against the elite.
