  1. Could be a little controversial but I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the current academy model.

    Here are mine:

Back in ~2015 Mel made the statement that he wanted around half of the first team to be made up on academy players within 5 years. Here we are at that point and that hasnt seemed to materialise. I can understand the model given our continuous failure in the transfer market and heavy investment in the academy. Develop younger and sell on for profit makes sense, bringing through player with 'the Derby way' who can slot into the first team, offer the best prospects in the country an easy path into championship level football to attract the best. However I am sceptical whether this can happen in reality.

I cant think of another club in world football that has half their team made up of academy players and still remain competitive (maybe Athletic Bilbao?).

If the model is also to sell the academy players when they can command a fee, which is seems to be the case (bogle, lowe, whittaker) then how can we be competitive while also selling the best our academy produces? We would probably need to be churning out a Will Hughes or Bogle in half of the positions in the team every 3/4 years if promotion/the premier league is still the end goal. I dont think we can sell players and replace them at that rate.

I also dont think that we are able to bring in the best the country has to offer, and when we do have them, the bigger academies can still poach them for pennies (Kellan Gordon).

This certainly isnt an academy bashing post either, I think the young lads have done really well under the circumstances this season, but I think too much has been asked of them before they are really ready.

Do we need to have a bit of a rethink if there is a change in ownership?

I think that is what pretty much all clubs hope to do, but the chances are you either go for someone young from a Prem academy or you go for someone who has done it at lower levels but you're unsure will make the step up, both of which are gambles. We did the latter with Marriott and he has done well in very small spells but hardly set the league alight and will probably result in use losing money if we sell him this summer.

Who would you go for that fits the criteria you mentioned?

I think we have to take a gamble given that we can no longer compete financially with the other clubs in the league?

Granted it didnt quite work out with marriott (although there is still a chance he could return and do well), but id still like to see us try and look for a gem rather than end up with another aging player on high wages who no one wants to sign.

Im not sure on the exact player but preferably someone under 25.

Derby v Boro is on Rams TV on NYD worldwide and in UK... hopefully a good way to nurse a hangover...

Unfortunately it is not worldwide. Just the UK and countries where the EFL do not have a broadcasting rights agreement because the game has been picked by another broadcaster (Pitch International). If you're abroad an cant watch because of this then maybe you could take a 'connecting flight' to one of these countries https://www.dcfc.co.uk/page/ramstv-availability-for-tv-games?nocache=1 where the game will be available

Will somebody somewhere please tell Jack Douglas to kindly shut up a bit during his match commentary. Gab gab gab.

Please sort it. Today's under 23 game was spoiled by his incessant chatter. Great performance by the under 23s though.

And its a great 5 yard pass by Max Bird using his left foot which landed at the feet of Anya's right foot which he used to control the ball live on RamsTV!!!!!!

i think there must be some issues with Rams tv.

i was watching today in Spain.  (which is a permitted area)

i tried with first of all my usual home internet service. (a local wifi provider)

i got the message that i was in an unauthorised area even on the preview show.

i then tried with my  vodofone.ES  wifi dongle.  same result.

i eventually connected using my movistar.es  4g router and all worked ok for the whole of the game.

at half time i tried going back to the other two isp s   with no luck

This will likely be your device or connection by the sounds of it, if it works on one connection but not another then your device will be showing as being in a different location. If it was RamsTV then it wouldn't have worked on either and no one at all would have been able to watch.

Try clearing the cache in your browser next time and see if that works?

A few suggestions for improvement -

    1. Let us choose whether we want rams TV commentary or radio commentary over the stream. I for one much prefer radio derby(habit of listening to them if nothing else) - It's also significantly louder so I can actually hear it and there is slight passion! the other one is dribble..

This would be great but i don't think it is possible to sync up the timing of the live radio broadcast with the live video broadcast, but if you wanted to you could have the match centre open in two tabs one playing the video on mute and the other playing the radio commentary?

To say i’m disappointed with this news would be putting it mildly. I know that the club aren’t to blame, but how can the EFL not include these games. The two (hopefully three ??) biggest games of the season and they won’t let overseas fans watch them. What excuse do they come up with? Home based fans will just go down to the nearest pub to watch. There is no need to “catch a last minute flight” as they will be easily available. I can understand cup games not being screened, but this is part of the EFL season, no matter that it is extended.

I'm sure the club would have loved to stream it as it would have made a good amount of money and i think in there lies the problem. The Play-offs are technically separate from the normal league fixtures and i guess the EFL have marketed them separately because of how popular they are. Have you checked if a broadcaster is showing it in Spain? The EFL might have been able to sell the play-offs in Spain but not the normal league fixtures.

Sorry to do this this way but I wasn’t sure a PM was the right thing to do.

I’ve just sent my third email as I've yet to have even an acknowledgement from the club, let alone a response.

Would you mind (if it is to hand) telling me which email address you used? PM or on here would be fine if it’s handy. I’m just concerned as I can’t really confirm if thae issue re my credentials has been corrected until match time. I can log into the DCFC site without issue but Rams TV still seems to have an issue.

What email are you sending to?

Yet they still take people’s money to provide the live service.. People should express their disappointment..

I don’t bother with it but week after week you see posts saying, it’s dropped off, I cannot get on.. The club have sold it as a finished product have they not?

Yeah of course people have the right to be disappointed if it doesn't work. Bear in mind that there was no way of knowing if it will work without actually doing it though.

Did anyone try Sky Go in its early days? That wasn't good and that was Sky trying it and i paid a lot more for Sky. Works okay now but resolution still drops and freezes sometimes. I am just saying compare it to similar things and they also have problems, doesn't make it okay but can see that its a difficult thing to do.
