  1. Not enough resources up front in this team selection we are back to the slow defensive set up of Charlton match
  2. You have to be watching to see this - maybe not often enough for you but he has goals and assists this season. The argument is not whether he can do it but other aspects of his game - like ability to effectively tackle and speed. Your post is just ignorant when presented unqualified as it is.
  3. There's a fatal fallacy with making this comparison. In your example the two students performances are independent of each other. In a football match one side's play directly affects the performance of the other team. The reason Bolton didn't score yesterday has much to do with our defending - when Wildsmith makes a superb save its part of OUR good performance. You state in another post that Wildsmith made "two worldies" as though that is just luck rather than good performance. Those saves were not just "rub of the green". But much more importantly, your pedantic posts have nothing to do with the joy of watching football.
  4. By far the best post in this thread - it reaches the parts discussion of Xg doesn't touch.
  5. Whatever the system there is no excuse for the two early instances he was brushed of the ball, or the amount of time he spends moving around to areas where he has little effect. Korey Smith has been impressive since he came back from injury.
  6. More mobile and a quicker thinker ... and reliable.
  7. Did you criticise Jason Knight when he was falling about all over the pitch to get us a free kick , or more distantly Chris Martins antics? Don't think you can say that diving is a feature of Hourihane's game and doubt he couldn't have foreseen that a sending off would result ( if it had been in the penalty area perhaps). There is a big total of fouls against us this season when opposition players have dropped to the floor after zero or minimal contact.
  8. Bradley was leaden .....and saying an objective fact doesn't a hater make
  9. You need to think more carefully as to why Tommo isn't getting on the pitch more , not rocket science (Korey Smith does far more with the ball)
  10. Do you not think that with the signing of a winger FIRST we have an indication of Warne's priorities? He may have said he wants a striker but that does not mean it was his priority. Not surprising given his preference for playing a lone striker.
  11. Sibley hasn't necessarily done anything wrong. After Saturday Warne himself suggested a back 3 was restricting our attacking ability. So when choosing the back four for Charlton he moved Cashin to LB so as to still find a place for Bradley . Bradley seems to be Warne's flavour of the month and Warne still needs to show us all that Bradley was a good signing.
  12. This seems to ignore the situation were were in when signing Gayle. Warne's failure to find injury cover for Collins left us in a dire situation. Gayle seems to have been the best of a not good range of options. Hard to use his Stoke time as an indicator since as a Stoke supporting friend tells me, Stoke have serially failed under a long sequence of many failed managers. But the worst thing about your post is you are not giving Gayle a fair chance if you try to draw conclusions so early - it usually takes time for players to adjust to a new team, and its not like we are playing well at the moment. Its like you have made your mind up already.
  13. Blinkered view. So nothing to do with Warnes coaching or the style of play he demands. We lost the passing game when Rosenior was ditched and it has to be said that some of Warne's incoming players struggle to pass effectively
  14. Really ? Too defensive. Still the empty space in the middle of the pitch. Miserable number of goal attempts. Bird was poor and not playing as far forward as in some recent games. Little support for Gayle. , ... yes a ..great midfield tonight. ..
  15. Those defending Warne need to explain why this performance is simply a repeat of so many recent games where his tired tactics have been unsuccessful.
  16. Another miserable performance following a typical Warne script
  17. Both Bradley and Hourihane were slow to respond after the Barnsley cross came over, but there was more to the goal than that. Cashin's defensive header was shocking and Kane shouldn't have backed off the Barnsley player who crossed the ball. That said, whatever mental slowness they might have had, both Hourihane and Bradley are also physically slow.
  18. If we get there the players WILL have deserved it. Anyway surely top 2 is still our target
  19. A back 3 of Nelson Bradley and Cashin aint the quickest, and Barnsley's movement up front was quick. So when they sent the ball forwards they easily caused us problems . To play a back 3 we dropped Nyambe -a good defender. Wilson was much better after the substitutions playing further forward. Your argument ignores the benefit of having another player further forwards. This is third recent match when we had to make the switch to a back 4. Warne is too cautious.
  20. Questions about whether a back 3 is the right things anyway. Nyambe is a class defender. Wilson better further forward. Bradley slows down the defence - too often waits for the ball to come to him .
  21. Another assist for the much maligned Hourihane. 2 good corners.
  22. Given the purpose of Xg and their ilk is predictive ability ( and not just based on one match but a sequence) do you not realise how your comment undermines the value of what you argue for?
