  1. Extraordinary miss from Collins after a lovely move, Bird to Mendez-Laing for a first-time cross with an open goal. But Collins missed. Now a red card for Orient. Yes!
  2. Some great wing play from Sibley on the left. If only he were in the box too, to finish the chances off.
  3. Thanks both! Yeah I have nephew Sagan in town this weekend and, having made him a mascot at an early age, he's cursed to support us as well. So I couldn't have gone on my own. Instead, we've had to pop on a plane to Greece, from where we can watch the match on the telly! Back in town later for Dear England. Come on you Rams! Sibbo to bag a double...
  4. In the unlikely event anyone ends up with a couple of spare tickets tomorrow, drop me a DM or reply to this. I can get out there in about 40 minutes. I feel it's a big game for us. We've pushed ourselves to the edge of contention, and will we keep going, or will the prospect scare us and we fall back into the pack? Wins are everything. It's been a joy to see both JJ's goals, so soon after returning to fitness. Both accomplished finishes, a level above what's the norm for this league. Confidence can be everything, and scoring so quickly once getting into the team, could mean he becomes an unstoppable force. If he stays fit...
  5. Rolls Royce are not the only people but this is great news. Not only for space settlement, but just generally. Every town should have its own modular nuclear reactors for baseline power, to be supplemented by renewables. But definitely needed on both the Moon and Mars to give settlements energy security.
  6. Here's new footage from the second integrated flight test, including drone stuff and a little from onboard cameras. Since then, SpaceX has erected their Gateway to Mars sign at the facility, and the push for the third launch continues apace:
  7. As a fan, David Clowes paid vastly over the odds to save the club he loved. The price was that of a top Championship Club with a decent chance of Premier League football. He isn't "wealthy" in the sense of regular football owners, so can't afford to lose too much on his investment, as would happen if following the advice in the OP. But the line about buying a football club to make a small fortune is a truism, and he will be losing significant dosh at the moment. I'm sure it's frightening to look at the balance sheet. The only way Clowes might make most of his money back is to get a speedy promotion and sell us as an upwards-moving Championship club. I remain deeply unconvinced Warne will take us to that point, but the dice weren't rolled and now all we can do is see how things pan out for the rest of the season. I really doubt DC can afford to employ someone to sell the club to high rollers at this point in the cycle.
  8. I would not be at all surprised if their playoff final win eventually emerges as no fluke. Or maybe we'll never know. But given the owner's alleged record, and the extraordinary riches at stake, to deny Huddersfield not one but two stonewall penalties, with VAR in operation, did appear somewhat suspicious. Or maybe it was simply a fluke?
  9. If Cooper gets the boot, I think Clowes should do everything possible to bring him to Pride Park. And I hope the gumps don't go for Potter.
  10. Precisely because of their inflation rate, with people's money being devalued, is why Bitcoin is attractive to Argentines. Previously, the banks could simply print twice as many pesos, and the value of the money is someone's pocket would halve. But that cannot be done with Bitcoin. Mathematically its supply is limited. This is why it is "the people's money". The pesos belong to the banks and they can (and do) do what they like with them. The Bitcoins belong to the people.
  11. Put it on the big screes so fans in the ground can see what's happening. Mike up the officials so we hear the discussions between Stockley Park and the ref. This is the only way for it to work for those instances where the game has been stopped. Fine for VAR to look at other stuff in the background while the ball is in play, but once play has been stopped, the whole ground needs to be involved and know what's happening. Turn it into sports theatre, like they do in cricket or even in egg-chasing. How can football have got the implementation so incredibly badly wrong?
  12. Oh no! Must have missed this. Hope you're OK and the lads put on a fine performance to warm yer cockles.
  13. One more go on this. This goal actually gives me huge hope for the season. I love the pressing before it, that Port Vale were never able to get the ball out of defence. Then the pass from NML is superb. But the finish from JJ is such class, never in doubt, ultra skillful. The chance came, he'd put himself in the right place and he took it majestically. Lots and lots of ifs, but if we keep him, and can keep him fit, I think it points to a splendid second half of the campaign.
  14. Thanks for the OP. Interesting comparison. Last year there was a top 3 already out of sight. This year there is still a clear top 3, averaging over 2pts a game or more, but they are much closer to the chasing pack of 4. Effectively we are 2nd in that chasing pack, as both us and Peterboro have better records than Stevenage. I agree with those who say the division is much weaker this year than last. Happily we're in a much better position than last year, but I think we've demonstrated in the past we have a weak mentality once we've got into a position to challenge. It's very important to overcome that and not fall back. It's not enough to be "in the playoffs". This is *the* season to win promotion from this division. Good to see there's a chance. I want us to prove ourselves and not drop out of the playoff places from now on, while inexorably closing in on the top 2. Looking forward to another comparison, maybe at the halfway point?
  15. Great stuff - we've hauled ourselves into the fringes of the promotion race. Previously when we've done that, we've had a nosebleed. Hopefully this group of players will be able to push on. Sounded solid tonight - and with a lot of energy. There are five more games to the midpoint of the season. Win at least four and we'll be properly in the mix. Made up for JJ. After so long out, amazing to bag a goal with your first touch! After his injury-ravaged time with us so far, Arsenal won't want him back. Just maybe he can stay fit and give us some magic in the second half of the season?
  16. I think the easiest way is to go the site https://ssstwitter.com/ and then paste the twitter link https://twitter.com/OwenBradley/status/1729103306650206612 into the box. Then you'll get download options.
  17. This was hilarious! I understand, for most people, this is likely one of the dullest videos you could watch. However, I love my fish and chips. Really love them. And this chippy is about 100m, maybe less, from my old office, so was my local! When taking people out to lunch I'd often go there - sometimes just eat there on my own. And, when I meet up with former colleagues, this is where we go! Fabulous... Thanks, @richinspain
  18. Here are the last four of the Starship version 1s to be built: All these are pretty much ready to fly, hoping they still will. Sometimes SpaceX scraps Starships if it thinks it can't learn anything from them. But it's great news that only after two integrated flight tests, the company has learnt enough to implement significant improvements to the design. My hope is that one of these remaining ones will be sent into orbit to test what's called on-orbit refuelling. SpaceX and NASA are developing this technology together, for the Artemis flights to the Moon, but the bonus for all of us is that we need to perfect it to be able to go to Mars with a lot of cargo. Until now, liquid-fuelled rockets used up all their fuel simply in escaping Earth's gravity well, before coasting towards their final destination. One of many radical new ideas for Starship is to refuel in orbit, meaning you can reach faster speeds on the way to Mars, and then also use fuel to slow you down once you reach your destination.
  19. I listen to the Radio Derby commentary through the Rams TV app. When it came to the 38th minute they talked about this being fan-led, and about the Derby County family. I clapped along at home, thinking about B4 and his wonderful contribution to our community over the years, and hopefully the pleasure it also brought him. Was pleased we won it for him at the end.
  20. Rain on my parade! See if I care? 🤣 I've driven Bentleys and Aston Martins, and several Lexus, and I do love this motor. And I was looking at picture of Kate Moss the other day (in the National Portrait Gallery) and did notice she has a really weird shaped head.
  21. Ooh - this thread bumped. For the first time in about 15 years I have a car, so I am posting it. Described by Jeremy Clarkson (and backed up by the rest of the Top Gear crew) as "the worst car in the world ... ever" it is fabulous and lovely. A Lexus SC430. Which stands for a sports coupe with a 4.3 litre V8 engine! And then the roof goes up and down at the touch of a button, like this one: Twenty year old Japanese engineering, but this is maybe the best built Lexus there was. To compete with Bentleys and Aston Martins. It looks as if it's just come out of the showroom, and everything works perfectly. Touch wood, of which there's plenty inside the cabin!
  22. Life is a constant battle over having too much stuff and needing to declutter.
  23. You're right and I think it shows how hard it is to find "balance" on a global platform. I was surprised when this was posted and I'd be surprised if it's actually enacted. I think the problem came about with a huge pile-on from across the media that Musk was antisemitic, so this might have been a frustrated attempt to counteract that. But you're better off not responding. And absolutely not by censoring.
  24. Because of the damage to the launchpad after the first test flight, and the snail's pace of the regulators unable to keep up with SpaceX's improvements, it took 7 months between flight 1 and 2. Elon confirms that the flight hardware (basically another Starship mated with another SuperHeavy booster) can be ready in 3-4 weeks, for the third test flight. However, they obviously want to know what caused the issue with the booster return (likely too much fuel sloshing due to the deceleration caused by Starship igniting its engines above it) and what caused the triggering of the self-destruct of Starship very near the end of its engine burn - and to implement changes to stop either happening again. So I'm thinking late January/early February for flight 3.
