  1. What I cannot understand is the the Chelsea takeover (in the billions) didn't take as long to finally settle. Money laundering checks, etc didnt appear to hamper them.

I know that ours has had many issues, but everything was apparently sorted and just waiting for the funds to be transferred!

  2. Worked at the DET for over 16years, unfortunately when the DMGT group sold it on to please shareholders, it became a pretty bleak place. Now the website is so crowded with cr@p that you struggle to find anything worth reading.

In my time at the DET, Steve was always very respectful to "those" that worked on the other side of the door. A very decent bloke and I think he has probably just had enough of them wanting him pushing out regurgitated junk every few hours to drive a few more clicks onto the site.

Always had a well rounded opinion of football.

Sorry to see him go, but some of the flak he has been taking from people at times must be part of his decision.

I really miss the Green Un. I was in photos printed in it about 4 times a year for about 10 years, and at least every other week for scoring.

I wish I'd kept them all. It was also great for finding which teams your ex team-mates were playing in.

Most of is was pre-printed during the afternoon and then the latest scores added as a rush at 4:50pm, they were sometimes still warm and damp when bundled and out.

I used to work at the DET and we did indeed used to have most of the pages for the Green Un ready by about 3pm on a Saturday. It was just the football scores that we waited for, before starting up.

Remember the pressure if the web of paper broke on start-up, everyone running around to re-web the press as the window for the paper was pretty small.

  4. Just thinking about the fantasy Wycombe claim against us.

Reading (also penalized for breaking P&S rules, so therefore seeking a competitive advantage above others) took 3 points of Wycombe in a match at the end of 2020.

Why is their chairman not going after Reading as well then, just us? I know that he feels that the points deduction should have happened last year, but if the claims get uphold those scenarios are going to become more commonplace.

  5. I have read reports that he apparently has been acting Billy Big balls for a while and thought he was bigger / better than what he actually was. He also had a rocky relationship with some of the older players (Ronaldo, etc) before this.

Southgate obviously saw this, plus his behavior whilst with the squad  hence why he hasn't had a sniff of returning to the England fold.

I just hope that the due process is followed and justice is served correctly.

  6. Can we take the EFL to a tribunal for not allowing us to extend Jagielka's contract then, but allowing us to sell and loan back a player?

Madness and I can see recriminations if Plange scores goals over the remaining games that ensure our survival.

All this "we", who is "we"?

WE are in administration,  and the administrators are in charge. They can't be suing anybody.

Ok, then we should put a case into the EFL as per other 2 clubs to go after potential compensation and do exactly what Gibson appears to have done to them.

Seeing as the fact that EFL regs not being updated was specifically highlighted in the parliamentary debate, I’d hope that they’d be pointing out that not being up to date with two year old statute is more a case of their negligence rather than arbitration.

As someone has mentioned before, we should be submitting claims against QPR and anyone else who was found guilty of FFP breaches (Bournemouth?) - with same arguments as the Boro claim - so that the EFL don’t immediately change the rules after we’re ducked. They would be baseless nonsense, but that’s the point.

By using the maths that Curly Sue has used to base his "wild" claim of £45m for coming after us, seeing as we got to the final then it is a minimum of £90m we should claim from QPR.

This is what would happen if this claim of his was to succeed. Sorry state of affairs and if some of what I have read on here is correct, then his gripe is with MM and seeing as he is not in charge of the club anymore, he should go after him in a court of law (in which he probably loses)

  9. The MP's etc should ensure that the admins are placed on a deal where they get paid on the speed on which they conclude a deal.

I mean, are you going to rush around when you are earning a supposed £400 ph?

We were lead to believe that the reason that the meeting was cancelled the other day was because significant progress had been made between all parties? It doesn't appear to read like that looking at those extremely poor statements.

  10. I thought the piece by the Bury MP was probably the most powerful part, I don't think it was lost on anyone there what the implications were to the town as well as the fans.

You could just imaging the Sports minister leaving there and getting on the blower to the EFL shouting "sort your s$*t out, you incompetent morons"

The only other thing which would have made it better is if they had mentioned Mr Risdale and his inclusion in the EFL governance when the spoke about fit and proper owners tests.

  11. That statement from Boro is a joke. Calls us out as cheats, bit rich as their owner apparently moves money around to offset football costs.

Also, they actually state that we were found guilty of P&S breaches and were sanctioned accordingly by the EFL!

Everyone is fair game in this then, you can bring charges against any club that finishes above you if they carry out any misdemeanor.

I mean, you could lose a couple of hundred grand for potentially finishing lower in the league.
