But then Ireland generally play as if they don't want the ball at all...so it's difficult for a midfielder such as Hendrick to make a telling contribution. He and Coleman completely bottled up the defensive right side. There was never any real threat from that area, so basically it was a disciplined, defensive Hendrick. I'm rooting for Ireland, but I've never understood why they count as a home nation. They're a foreign country and about as close to us as France. Might as well call the Faroe Islands a home nation.
