A big well done to the Under 18's, played for 120 minutes and scored in extra time due to a Kane Richards goal. They're through to the fourth round, and have come up against a team that have the ability to recruit the best players in the world. Goes to show that some of our kids could be half decent. Well done boys!!!

Clough in?

Everybody presently connected with the Club out. These 15 year olds don't look good enough to me. How much longer do they need. Arsenal, easy. If we can't beat Arsenal at this level, then I think we should all demonstrate at the next home game and demand something.

Boooooooooo

Clough out Darren Wassall in

Would that be the same Darren Wassall who was appointed by Clough and given the freedom and independence to run the academy for the long term without the fear of losing his job if Clough left?

Give the bloke credit where its due yer miserable scrote... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Some would construe from that, that Clough wanted nothing to do with it , some would.

Having spoken to Clough about the subject I can safely say he's given much more of a damn about the academy than many (dare I say "any") of our past regimes.

Magnificent result for the youth team

Here is a report from an Arsenal blog.

[url=http://arsenalyouth.wordpress.com/2011/12/14/arsenal-go-out-to-derby-in-youth-cup-whilst-bunjaku-leaves-the-club/]http://arsenalyouth.wordpress.com/2011/12/14/arsenal-go-out-to-derby-in-youth-cup-whilst-bunjaku-leaves-the-club/

Sounds like we defended very well and created lots of chances in the second half. The blogger puts down their keeper as their best player!

The youth team has been making huge progress under Wassall and with Clough watching the match himself, we could see a few more of these young Rams pushing for a first team spot before the season is out.

Another good thing:

Derby's team is young even by Youth Cup standards. Seven of the starting 11 are first-year scholars and Bennett is still at school.

The only second-year scholars in the side that started were skipper Stefan Galinski, Richards and Morch.

Arsenal won the competition as recently as 2009 when they beat Liverpool.

They top their Premier Academy League and head coach Steve Bould, the former Gunners' defender, named a team of mainly second years.

Clough watched the match? Why wasn't he thinking about the next few first team defeats. Booooo

Honestly, who does he think he is, turning up to frighten those young lads like that and stopping them from winn...oh, er, hmm..
