mrdcfc11
Was watching the live feed on Arsenal Twitter page, sounds like the boys did an outstanding performance to beat one of the best youth teams in the world. Anybody know how they each played? We need more Mason Bennett, Will Hughes, Callum Balls pushing through to the first team!

I took my dad (who lived in Crewe, but supported Derby all his life) to go and watch newly-promoted Crewe against releagted Blackburn Rovers in the first match of the season a few years back. Crewe gave a debut to David Vaughan at left-back. He liked to get forward and take on payers, but unfortunately Jason McAteer was playing RM for Blackburn that day, and he gave him a very rough time. (The real) Dario Gradi took him off at half-time, and didn't play him in the first team again that season. He wasn't ready! He is now a regular in the Welsh team, and playing in the Prem for Sunderland.

barnetram
I had the pleasure of seeing the game last night. It was one of the most satisfying displays I have seen from a Derby County team in the last few years. After coming under intense pressure almost throughout the first half which we withstood mainly due to some very good goalkeeping,we went on to impose ourseves against an Arsenal team of some ability and who, physically , were much bigger. MoM without a doubt was Will Hughes who played beautifully until he went off with severe cramp towards the end of extra time. His ability to make space for himself, run with the ball and pass the ball with consistent accuracy was impressive. So much so that the Arsenal fans around us were singing his praises and saying he was the best player on the pitch! Hughes was in my opinion closely followed by the keeper who made four or five first class saves in the first half and one in the second half which were first class. The centre half Galinski had a good game as did Richards in the second half Bennet made a contribution but did not have an outstanding game - he did take a knock in the first half which may have affected him as he didn't seem to be moving freely thereafter. In general ,every player put in a great shift and and its not surprising that some of them could hardly move at the end. It was a great evenin to be a Rams Fan! Ghost of Clough
We had Ayrton Wassall on the bench. Relative? Dont go overboard pal, great result and all that, but the percentage of home grown players that have ever made the grade is not very high. Our youngsters tend to down grade when they leave, and very few stay at Derby.
leedsram
What's happened to Mason's homework - a month ago Clough wasn't picking him for long midweek away games because of the effect on his schoolwork - now he's off to Arsenal on a Wednesday night. Perhaps Clough has worked out that an agent will be doing Mason's maths for the next 20 years.

CumbrianRam
Not a great evening for Arsenal kids by all accounts: [url=http://www.radikal.ru]http://i009.radikal.ru/1112/f0/9c59c7b67c04 Arsenal fans will hope 'the new Cesc Fabregas' enjoys better days. Much in expected of Jon Toral, who moved to the Premier League from Barcelona last the summer, sparking a war of words between the Spanish giants and the Gunners. But however vicious his transfer tussle, nothing can compare with the shiner he was left sporting as his new club crashed out of the FA Youth Cup in the third round. Ouch! Jon Toral was left with a swollen eye - and bruised ego - as Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup in the third round by Derby County The 2009 winners were taken all the way to extra time by Derby County at Underhill, before the Rams, who had first-team player Mason Bennett in their ranks, snatched victory in dramatic circumstances. And while Toral's ego will be aching this morning from the defeat, so too will the 16-year-old's left eye having picked up a nasty looking injury during the match. Toral, who was featuring alongside another summer recruit Hector Bellerin, has already featured in the reserve team for the Gunners, despite many of the regulars at the level being several years older. Big things: Toral is one of the club's most exciting young players having joined from Barcelona in the summer The experience with older players has certainly helped. Toral, who's mother is English, brushed off the giant bruise above his eye and played on until the very end. So it seems the Spanish can do it on a cold winter's night...
