Boycie
it wasn't the guy on here was it who wanted to know about sitting in the home end at away games was it? Maybe he was a soton fan?
RIMBAUD
it was infront of us - admittedly quite a way. away fan. stewards weren't quick to deal with it. I think deep down they were probably happy to see him get a slap. (only joking)

-JW-
not surprised that no arrests were made - there were no police..... Farcical that police didnt get involved, looking at the picture there are about 5 big men who seem to be involved and there are 2 female stewards who are both about 5 foot nothing trying to seperate them. Madness!
RIMBAUD
Coppers were nowhere near and the stewards were ineffective. Not having a go - some of my best friends are stewards.
-JW-
Some of the stewards panic (especially female) because they probably have never faced a situatuion like this before and they dont know what is the best way to sort it out. Stewarding at PP is generally decent though.

Gaspode
I think there has been a deliberate policy of using stewards rather than the police inside the ground for a while now (unless there's a high likelihood of trouble) - in this case it was a long way from the away fans so it's not too surprising that there were only stewards. My issue was with the amount of time it took them to react - the folk spoiling for a fight had been on their feet (in a part of the ground where everyone else was sitting down) for some time before anyone reacted - and it took other folk to draw the stewards attention to it - they sit facing the crowd and yet it seemed that they weren't actually watching what was going on.... Stewarding at PP is generally decent though. Especially female? Not sure about that. If I was a steward and paid to do a job, I'd jump straight in, knock their heads together and make a fence 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> Seriously though, surely the stewards are trained in case this kind of thing happens? Otherwise, what's the point of them being there? Aren't they the first port of call before the police need to step in? From what I saw, it took an age before anything was done. I bet the guideline book comes out and they all have to have a butchers at it to see where things could be improved.
MrsRam
Is it paid well? Only thing is, you can't watch the match can you? well, you're not supposed to. Do you have to have riot training - I'm all for a bit of that? Me and ladyram patrolling the north east - there'd be no fisticuffs on our watch. MrsRam
I've just looked on the OS - they need stewards and you're trained to NVQ level 2 - in what, I dunno. Anyone know what the pay is?
